Pokemon Scarlet and Violet surprised trainers with more events, as Porygon2 can be found in Mass Outbreaks and Seven-Star Tera Raid dens for the next two weeks. The new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet events focused on Porygon2 went live alongside the Switch 2’s global release.

Known as the Virtual Pokemon, Porygon2 first appeared in Pokemon Gold and Silver as the first evolution of Porygon. Porygon2 could only be obtained by trading a Porygon while it held the Up-Grade item. Although Porygon2 eventually gained another form in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl called Porygon-Z, the middle form of the Porygon line has carved a niche in competitive Pokemon battles. By holding an Eviolite, Porygon2’s defensive stats are boosted to higher levels, making it a viable option as a tank that can keep opponents off balance while utilizing attacks like Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, and Tri Attack.

Following the conclusion of the Porygon Mass Outbreak event, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet revealed more surprises for trainers to participate in. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s Porygon2 Mass Outbreak and Seven-Star Tera Raid events are ongoing until Sunday, June 15, at 7:59 PM Eastern. Waves of Porygon2 will appear in Paldea, Kitakami, and the Terarium with increased Shiny odds. As for the Seven-Star Tera Raid, Serebii.net confirmed that Porygon the Unrivaled will have the Normal-type as its Tera type, and grant the Mightiest Mark to trainers who defeat it.

Porygon2 will have Analytic as its ability, along with the moves Tri Attack, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Discharge, Psychic, and Trick Room. Despite being a known Eviolite user, Porygon2 the Unrivaled carries no items. Ergo, strong Fighting-type Pokemon like Zamazenta and Iron Hands, or creatures like Blissey with high special defense, are recommended for taking on Porygon2 the Unrivaled.

The Porygon2 events also mark the start of a new era for the Pokemon franchise, as they coincide with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 console. On June 3, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet received a free update ahead of the Switch 2’s launch that allowed both games to take advantage of the new console’s updated hardware. With the free update, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet can now reach frame rates of up to 60 FPS in most areas.

Along with the Mass Outbreak and Seven-Star Tera Raid events, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will have an additional way to add Porygon2 to their collections soon. A special Porygon2 will be distributed via a Mystery Gift Code that will be revealed on June 7 and 8 during the 2025 Pokemon Trainers Cup in South Korea.
