A game streamer was all set to start a sponsored stream featuring MindsEye, only to receive word that they needed to stop streaming it immediately. It’s just one of the problems surrounding MindsEye since its launch, though some concerns began even before it officially reached players.
MindsEye is a new game from Build a Rocket Boy, with Leslie Benzies, the producer of every Grand Theft Auto from GTA 3 through GTA 5 writing and directing the project. MindsEye drew a lot of attention and excitement due to its similarities to GTA, especially with players still waiting for the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. However, its launch was anything but smooth, and the development team behind the game is still scrambling to recover with hotfixes and patches.

MindsEye is filled with bugs both hilarious and horrifying, leading to negative reviews and many humorous social media posts from players.
As with many other games, streamers were selected to play the game for their audiences in sponsored streams to help build excitement and interest in the title. However, unlike most sponsored streams, these were anything but smooth, with one streamer having to actually cancel the stream and switch to another game entirely. Twitch streamer CohnCarnage was actively booting up MindsEye and looking at the startup splash screen when he was suddenly given word that he needed to “pause” the stream immediately. CohnCarnage seemed baffled by this move, and indicated that this was the first time he’d experienced something like this.
Streams for MindsEye Aren’t Going Well
The developer or publisher of the game is likely trying to avoid showcasing MindsEye while there are major flaws with it, but not every stream ended up canceled. In one case, streamer DarkViperAU did proceed with the sponsored stream, with the game’s bugs, visual glitches, and other issues being broadcast to the audience. At the end, after attempting to take a shortcut to his destination and receiving a game over for “failing” the mission, DarkViperAU struggled to keep a straight face while trying to inform his audience where they could get the game. In another stream, ExtraEmily’s car got stuck, and promptly began to catch fire and exploded, giving her a game over as well.
While it’s understandable that the team behind MindsEye didn’t want to highlight the game’s current state, the cancelation of CohnCarnage’s stream has only brought more attention to the game’s problems. It remains to be seen if the developers can turn the situation around, but in the meantime, players have already been seeking refunds for MindsEye on PlayStation, while others have left significantly negative reviews on platforms like Steam.
