Overture Reveals Major Changes Coming Based on Fan Feedback

Summary

  • Neowiz plans to reduce the difficulty of Lies of P: Overture based on player feedback.
  • New difficulty options, like Butterfly’s Guidance, offer easier gameplay for the DLC.
  • Lies of P achieved a new player record on Steam after the release of Overture.

Developer Neowiz has recently announced a few changes to Lies of P based on player feedback after the release of the “Overture” DLC. Many gamers have been complaining that Lies of P: Overture is too hard, and the developers intend to balance the expansion’s difficulty level, among other changes.

Launched in 2023, Lies of P has been a fairly successful soulslike game, selling over a million units. During the recent Summer Game Fest 2025, Neowiz shadow-dropped Lies of P: Overture, the game’s new expansion, which gives players a chance to explore the world before the Puppet Frenzy happened. Most fans were excited to play the DLC, but it seems that not all of them were quite satisfied with it, as it can be seen in the many complaints about the difficulty levels of Lies of P: Overture.

Lies of P Overture – How to Start the DLC

Finding your way to the Forgotten Time can be tricky. Here’s how to start the Overture DLC in Lies of P.

In a recent “Director’s Letter” video (spotted by Eurogamer), Lies of P director Jiwon Choi stated that Neowiz has been reviewing player feedback and decided to change some aspects of the game. One of them is related to the difficulty of the expansion, as the team “identified areas that did not turn out quite as we intended.” These promised changes would include a minor reduction in the difficulty of the DLC, as well as some other balancing changes to ensure that the game is satisfying and fun. However, any change would require “meticulous work and thorough testing,” so the developers still don’t know when the patch will be released, and just wanted to give gamers a heads-up for now.

Lies of P Developer Decides to Reduce Difficulty of Overture DLC

Fortunately, gamers can pick new difficulty options when playing Lies of P: Overture if they think the game is too hard. Aside from the normal difficulty, now named Legendary Stalker, gamers can also pick Butterfly’s Guidance and Awakened Puppet, which make the experience of not only the DLC but also the base game considerably easier.

Due to the DLC’s shadow drop, Lies of P’s player count is way up these days. Soon after Overture‘s release, the game reached its new all-time record for players on Steam, with over 30,000 gamers playing it simultaneously.

Right now, Neowiz is also working on its next game after Lies of P. The new game will be developed together with Round 8 Studios, and it will be a new survivor horror story set in a sci-fi world, which will likely be a nice change in scenery after Lies of P. Not much is currently known about the title, though, only that it will be developed with Unreal Engine 5.
