Nintendo Switch 2 Players Can Save a Massive Amount of Screenshots

The Nintendo Switch 2 will allow users to save up to 30,000 screenshots, a marked improvement over the original console. Just one day prior to the launch of the new system, the community is waiting with bated breath for the Nintendo Switch 2 to appear on store shelves and arrive on prospective players’ doorsteps worldwide on June 5.

Nintendo has been busy preparing for the launch of the Switch 2 in the weeks leading up to the console’s launch, with the Nintendo Switch App recently being updated to support the new system’s GameChat feature and streamlining its interface. The ability to screen share and chat with friends while gaming has been a huge draw for consumers, along with the many other improvements and tweaks set to be included in the highly anticipated system. Now, just a day ahead of the Switch 2’s launch, gamers have been given even more good news about what to expect from the new hybrid console.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has only begun to write its story, and these upcoming new games will be major chapters.

As reported by Nintendo (and spotted by NintendoSoup), the Nintendo Switch 2 will be capable of saving up to 30,000 screenshots, with 15,000 in system memory and an additional 15,000 on a microSD Express card. Additionally, players eager to save video will be able to save up to 1,500 in system memory, and a whopping 5,000 on a microSD. While impressive, these limits will only apply to players who have updated their console to firmware version 20.1.1 and above, as those below this will only be able to save 1,000 screenshots and 100 videos in the Switch 2’s memory, and microSD Express cards won’t be functional. This is a massive improvement over the original Switch, which only permitted users to save 10,000 screenshots and 100 videos on a microSD card, and it’s not the only improvement the Switch 2 brings to the table. Players can expect a larger screen, 4K support, and new magnetic Joy-Cons with mouse functionality.

Once Switch 2 pre-orders began, so did the chaos, as some stores saw technical difficulties during the process while others recently canceled successful orders without apparent cause. Some third-party retailers are already planning to sell out of the system on June 5, with Nintendo preemptively sending out Switch 2 ‘out of stock’ signs to stores nationwide ahead of launch day. Target will reportedly have consoles for sale on June 6, but there’s no telling how quickly stock will sell out.

Those able to snag the new system tomorrow will be able to enjoy a wide selection of Switch 2 launch titles, including Mario Kart World, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Hogwarts Legacy. Upgrade packs will also be available for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom on release day.
