How to Craft Aluminum Ingots in Dune: Awakening

Aluminum makes up the fourth tier of equipment in Dune: Awakening, and this is where things really start to open up. Apart from the regular slew of new weapons and armor, Aluminum also enables the construction of Tier 4 tools and vehicle parts, including the schematics needed to make your first Ornithopter.

Getting Aluminum is going to be much harder compared to just harvesting Iron or Carbon. Apart from this resource being generally harder to reach, you’ll also need advanced tools before you can even start mining them. Here’s what you need to do and where you need to go to get Aluminum in Dune: Awakening.

Dune: Awakening is a challenging survival MMO, and right from the tutorial, players will acquire several key items that they will need to progress.

You can find Aluminum in the regions beyond Vermillius Gap. You can find some on the flat-top rock spires in Jabal Eifrit, but if you want to get as much Aluminum as possible, you’ll want to get to the Eastern Shield Wall. The valleys here have plenty of Aluminum for you to harvest, but if you want to stockpile Aluminum Ingots as early as possible, Jabal Eifrit is a good place to start.

Dune: Awakening Aluminum Ore Node

Before you can mine Aluminum Ore, you need a Cutterray Mk3, and before you can use a Cutterray Mk3 efficiently, you’ll need a Power Pack Mk3 to supply you with enough energy for continuous mining. Also, you should already have a Suspensor Belt equipped by this stage of the game — getting Suspensor Belt early is one of the best things you can do as a beginner. These will help you greatly when it comes to exploration and climbing tall obstacles.

There should be a couple of Aluminum Ore nodes on top of the marked spires above. Each node yields 40 Aluminum Ore with a Cutterray Mk3, and if you want to improve that efficiency, you’ll need a better Cutterray. Also, keep in mind that ore nodes respawn at a fixed interval, so you’ll technically never run out of Aluminum to mine.

Crafting Aluminum Ingots

To make Aluminum Ingots, you need a Medium Ore Refinery and the following materials:

Given the high Water requirement for a single bar of Aluminum as well as the 125 Steel Ingot/60 Cobalt Paste requirement for the Medium Ore Refinery, we suggest getting a decent water collection setup going first. Making a base near a big NPC camp is an easy way to harvest blood for purification, but if you want an automated water harvesting method early on, build some Windtraps in your base.

Water is defintely going to be your production bottleneck when crafting Aluminum-tier equipment and above, so make sure you don’t neglect water generation and storage from hereon.
