One of the new Xbox Game Pass games coming soon is Barbie Project Friendship, and as someone that jumps at every opportunity to play a local co-op game, I am unironically excited to give it a shot. Xbox Game Pass has been on fire this year, with a near-constant stream of high-quality releases. The momentum isn’t slowing down any time soon, with a variety of exciting new games on the way as part of the June 2025 lineup.
Multiple games have already been added to Xbox Game Pass in June 2025, including Crypt Custodian, Symphonia, and the enhanced versions of the first two Baldur’s Gate games. Even more new games are coming to Xbox Game Pass in the near future, with the Space Marine 1 remaster landing on June 10 and Barbie Project Friendship joining the service across the Ultimate, PC, and Standard tiers on June 11.

One of my favorite things to do is play local co-op games with my wife, but we spend so much time playing games together that we have just about played nearly every one imaginable. That’s why it’s always exciting whenever I come across a local co-op game that I didn’t know existed, which is the case with Barbie Project Friendship. Outside the brilliant Greta Gerwig Barbie movie and an old CD-ROM game that my sister used to play as a kid, I don’t really care about the brand, but the fact that it’s local co-op means I will at least be giving it a shot when it’s added to Xbox Game Pass on June 11.
Barbie Project Friendship is Coming to Xbox Game Pass on June 11
In Barbie Project Friendship, players take on the role of two Barbies who have to save the Malibu Waves Community Center. This is accomplished through completing quests and mini-games. Based on the screenshots, there is a tennis mini-game to check out, plus one set at a pet salon that actually looks like a Barbie-fied version of Overcooked. I doubt that the game has much depth, but it could still make for a fun local co-op experience on Xbox Game Pass.

There isn’t much in the way of professional reviews for Barbie Project Friendship, but the game has a “Mostly Positive” overall rating on Steam. It’s nothing I would ever go out of my way to buy, but with it being added to Xbox Game Pass, I have no reason not to check it out. And if it turns out to be bad, at least it was basically free and there are plenty of other new Xbox Game Pass games to look forward to in June 2025, including day one releases like The Alters, Rematch, and FBC: Firebreak, among others.
