One Destiny 2 Exotic Makes DPS ‘Easy’

As new Exotics, legendaries, and other buildcrafting tools get introduced to Destiny 2, the endgame meta for both PvP and PvE continues to evolve and expand into new power fantasies. While the weapon isn’t new, one such Exotic that has recently risen to the top of Destiny 2’s meta is the Queenbreaker, a heavy Arc linear fusion rifle.

This returning Exotic from the original Destiny is currently one of the best heavy weapons for DPS phases in Destiny 2, thanks to its new Exotic Catalyst upgrade, as well as some of the buffs for Arc weapons and linear fusion rifles available in the Episode Heresy Seasonal Artifact. Ultimately, given this weapon’s newly improved effectiveness, as well as how relatively easy the weapon and its Exotic Catalyst are to obtain, the Queenbreaker can make DPS in Destiny 2 quite easy.

Episode Heresy is the Perfect Time for Linear Fusion Rifles and Arc Subclass Builds

With the new Artifact perks in Episode Heresy, the Queenbreaker Exotic in Destiny 2 is now stronger than it’s ever been before. Overall, there are several perks in the current Seasonal Artifact that apply to Arc weapons, though the new Particle Reconstruction perk provides a buff specifically for fusion rifles and linear fusion rifles.

Dealing sustained damage with Fusion Rifles or Linear Fusion Rifles partially refills the magazine from reserves and grants them bonus damage for a short duration against that target.

Naturally, since the Queenbreaker is both a linear fusion rifle and an Arc weapon, it can double-dip into several perks from the current Artifact beyond Particle Reconstruction, outright improving its performance and helping the weapon to synergize with unique Arc Subclass mechanics. These Artifact perks won’t be around forever, though, so players should consider taking advantage of these powerful buildcrafting tools while they’re still available, until the release of The Edge of Fate expansion on July 15. Even for players who don’t want to commit to a pure Arc Subclass and weapons build, the Queenbreaker on its own can still make DPS phases in PvE content a breeze because of its high damage output.

The Queenbreaker Exotic is a Top-Tier Weapon Even Without a Dedicated Build

Another reason why the Queenbreaker has suddenly become one of the best weapons for DPS in Destiny 2 is its new Exotic Catalyst. This provides the Rewind Rounds perk to the weapon, allowing it to instantly reload part of its magazine when emptied based on the number of shots landed in the last magazine. Between this Exotic Catalyst and the Particle Reconstruction Artifact perk, players can use the Queenbreaker for the majority of a DPS phase without needing to frequently reload or swap to another weapon.

The Queenbreaker is also highly effective in Destiny 2’s PvEvP Gambit game mode, since its precision makes it well-suited for killing invading players from a safe distance, while its DPS output as a heavy weapon can melt the Primeval boss and other major enemies.

Unlike how god-roll legendary weapons and Catalyst upgrades for some of the best Exotic weapons often require players to grind endgame content in Destiny 2, the Queenbreaker and its Exotic Catalyst are relatively much easier to get. The weapon itself can be earned from Exotic Engrams or purchased from Xur, and, thankfully, it’s part of the knockout list of possible rewards from Exotic Engrams, so players will eventually earn it after opening enough Exotic Engrams. For the Queenbreaker’s Exotic Catalyst, this comes as a random reward for completing Strikes, Crucible, or Gambit matches. So, in addition to how it serves as a skeleton key for DPS phases, the Queenbreaker also has the advantage of being a highly accessible weapon for newer and more casual players, making it one of the easiest weapons for DPS in Destiny 2.
