How to Increase Facility Connection Levels in Death Stranding 2

Sam Porter Bridges visits a ton of different facilities and outposts as he explores the vast expanses of Mexico and Australia in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach as part of the main storyline. Alongside getting them connected to the ever-expanding Chiral Network, players can increase their connection level with facilities to get access to more items, weapons, and structures. In this guide, I’ll explain how to increase connection levels in Death Stranding 2.

How to Take Photos in Death Stranding 2

Like most modern games, Death Stranding 2 has a photo mode with a ton of options for players to experiment with. Here’s how to use it.

How to Increase Connection Levels in Death Stranding 2

Be a Busy Courier

Players can increase facility connection levels by delivering lost cargo to them and completing Aid Requests for them, in addition to any main objective deliveries they’re tasked with making for the storyline.

Lost cargo can be found around the world as players go from place to place, and can easily be seen by using the Odradek scanner with L1. Any missing items or cargo in the area will then be highlighted, with a label indicating what the cargo is, and the destination it needs to reach. These are normally outposts or facilities in the nearby area. Players need to pick these up (if they have enough carrying capacity) and take them to the facility or outpost that they were supposed to reach.

Any lost cargo that is delivered will earn players ‘Likes’ with the facility, which then improves its connection level.

Facilities will also occasionally have Aid Requests. These require players to either go and find more missing items, defeat BTs or MULEs, or fabricate a structure in a specific location near their outpost. Players can view any of these requests under the ‘Aid Requests’ option in the Ring menu (Options button).

Finally, some facilities may also have Sub Orders. These are fairly uncommon, optional deliveries that players can make to them. In some cases, a facility’s connection level can’t be increased any further until a Sub Order has been completed.

If players want to get Death Stranding 2’s Platinum trophy, they’ll need to maximize their connection level with all 42 facilities to five stars. This is required for the ‘Connecting Hearts and Minds’ Gold trophy. Some of these are well-hidden, like The Artist.

How to Check Facility Connection Level in Death Stranding 2

Look to the Stars

The connection level of a facility is indicated by the star rating, which appears after completing a delivery. It’s also shown on the map when an outpost or facility is highlighted and can be seen in the upper right corner when you interact with the delivery terminal.

After reaching a new connection level with an outpost, players will be rewarded with fabrication schematics for new weapons, items, or structures that’ll help them on their journey. For example, by increasing the Bokka outpost in Mexico to a two-star connection level, I was able to create the Trekking Boots, which are far more durable and grippy than the standard boots players get at the beginning of the game.
