Death Stranding 2: On the Beach continues Sam Bridges’ mission to reconnect humanity, completing countless deliveries while crossing vast, hostile terrain. The adventure avoids the sprawling scale of many open-world games yet still spins a surprisingly long tale that moves Sam through deserts, rainforests, and coastal zones in Mexico and Australia, forcing him to face ingenious threats only Hideo Kojima could imagine.

Should You Play Death Stranding 1 Before Playing DS2?
Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding universe is pretty complex and narratively dense. So, should players play Death Stranding 1 before its sequel?
Even without diving into side quests, Death Stranding 2 still packs substantial content into its main campaign, offering vivid locales and memorable set pieces that keep the journey’s rhythm engaging.
For players tracking story progress or choosing the best moment to branch into optional material, this list assembles every Order central to Sam, along with the titles of each episode that composes the core narrative.
All Main Quests In Death Stranding 2
Order Numbers
The story unfolds across two distinct regions: Mexico, where players spend the opening hours exploring the landscape, and, later, Australia, where the main narrative really takes shape. Each area features its own main and side quests, and the good news is that players almost never hit a point of no return, and Sam can move freely between both territories throughout the entire game.

Only a few missions temporarily prevent Sam from doing other tasks, like investigating the Strange Realm at certain points in the main story.
It is worth noting that, despite being labeled Orders, not every quest revolves strictly around delivery; several quests have entirely different objectives and challenge types. Durations and mechanics also vary widely, with certain tasks asking Sam to transport fragile cargo that must never touch water or collide with rough terrain, while others dispatch him to dismantle bandit camps, eliminate BTs, or penetrate a fortified enemy base to rescue someone.
