PlayStation Console Exclusive is in Development for the Nintendo Switch 2

Shift Up is reportedly working on bringing Stellar Blade to the Nintendo Switch 2. Initially released for the PlayStation 5 in April 2024 and recently celebrating its launch on PC, Stellar Blade has been a massive hit for Sony, and if this new rumor is to be believed, the action-adventure title may become available for even more players in the near future.

Launching in early June with only a couple of first-party titles, the Nintendo Switch 2 already boasts a large library of third-party games, including Hogwarts Legacy, Split Fiction, and Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will make its way to the new hybrid console on July 11, while Borderlands 4 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade are also slated to appear on the more robust Nintendo hardware later this year. Now, it looks like another massively popular game will join the wave of titles coming to the Switch 2, and this one was once a PlayStation exclusive.

Big 2026 JRPG Confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2

Another game is confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2, and this time players will see an anticipated JRPG coming to the console in 2026.

In a post by the Korean website PlayForum (and spotted by Eurogamer), Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has reportedly been given a dev kit for the Nintendo Switch 2, with the company already starting initial work to bring the title to the new console. This is part of the studio’s multiplatform strategy, as the recent release of Stellar Blade on PC proved to be an excellent decision, with the game selling over one million copies on the platform in less than a week. The developers are reportedly working to optimize the title for the Switch 2’s less powerful hardware when compared to PS5 and PC, and no release window has been confirmed.

Stellar Blade Reportedly in Development for Nintendo Switch 2

It was recently announced that Stellar Blade had sold over three million units since its launch, making it no surprise when Shift Up confirmed that a sequel is in the works. While few details about the second game have been revealed, rumors indicate that it could be released as early as 2026. Alongside this, the studio is working on the upcoming action title codenamed Project Witches, which will reportedly feature RPG elements and open-world exploration.

There are plenty of exciting titles coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 this year, including Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The console sold over 3.5 million units in its first four days, and given this groundbreaking success, more developers may soon be tempted to bring their games to the new hybrid console.
