For many fans who tuned into the 2025 Summer Game Fest showcase, the reveal of Resident Evil Requiem to cap off the event was the highlight of the day. After Lady Dimitrescu’s voice actor, Maggie Robertson, teased news about the future of Resident Evil and the series’ 30th anniversary in 2026, it seemed like fans were going to have to wait for another date to hear about the series’ next entry only for the surprise trailer for Resident Evil Requiem to be dropped at the show’s conclusion. Capcom definitely knew what it was doing by bringing in Robertson for this showcase, given Lady Dimitrescu’s popularity, and Requiem could be due for a character with similar star power.
Rumors had been swirling around Resident Evil Requiem long before its reveal, and it looks like some of those rumors are coming to fruition. Resident Evil Requiem has already revealed a new protagonist in Grace Ashcroft and a return to the iconic location of Raccoon City in the aftermath of the T-Virus outbreak. However, based on other information leaked alongside these details, it seems like one character may already be perfect to repeat the Lady Dimitrescu hype of Resident Evil Village‘s pre-release marketing.

Lady Dimitrescu’s Resident Evil Village Reveal Sent Shockwaves Around the Internet
For even the casual Resident Evil fan, the initial reveal of Lady Dimitrescu ahead of Village‘s release was likely viewed as a watershed moment for the franchise. As fans became enamored with the vampire giantess, it became clear that Lady Dimitrescu would steal the show when Resident Evil Village released. The popularity of Lady Dimitrescu in the online Resident Evil community essentially eclipsed all other discussion of the game leading up to release, and that popularity largely remains four years later.
The impact Lady Dimitrescu left on Resident Evil Village players is obvious. Not only did her in-game role lead to one of the most tense segments of a modern Resident Evil game, but Maggie Robertson’s performance as Alcina Dimitrescu went on to earn her the Game Award for Best Performance in 2021. The fact that Robertson was chosen to appear as a part of Resident Evil‘s presence at Summer Game Fest is a testament to the legacy Lady Dimitrescu has left on the franchise.
Leon Kennedy’s Return Could Cause Similar Reactions to Lady Dimitrescu’s Reveal
With Grace Ashcroft already revealed as a newcomer to Resident Evil Requiem, the game still seems to be waiting to reveal a character that can bring the same level of star power as Alcina Dimitrescu. It’s possible that Resident Evil Requiem will feature a new villain in the same league as Lady Dimitrescu, but it’s more likely that a hero will be the one to hook players if rumors are true. Resident Evil‘s iconic character Leon S. Kennedy is rumored to be the second protagonist for Requiem, and he could be the one to generate a new level of hype for the game.
Leon has not been confirmed for the game yet, but the Summer Game Fest Resident Evil Requiem trailer leaves a lot of questions to be answered. If Leon is present as another protagonist in Requiem, he’ll likely be a much older version of the character fans are used to, similar to Chris Redfield’s appearance in Village. Getting to see the brand-new look for an aged-up Leon could make similar waves in the Resident Evil community as Lady Dimitrescu’s reveal did prior to Village‘s release.
Resident Evil Requiem is slated for a February 27, 2026 release, meaning there is plenty of time for more information to be revealed.
