Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Adds One of 2024’s Best-Selling Games

Summary

  • EA Sports FC 25 is the 67th new title to reach Xbox Game Pass in 2025.
  • Since it requires the EA Play add-on, the football sim is only available via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has added EA Sports FC 25 to its content catalog. This is the sixth new title to reach Microsoft’s subscribers in June 2025, as well as the 67th Xbox Game Pass release since the turn of the year.

EA Sports FC 25 marks Electronic Arts’ second football sim since the company’s FIFA license expired. While the group’s early 2025 financial report stated that the title underperformed, Circana’s data still marks EA Sports FC 25 as one of the best-selling games of 2024 in the U.S., at number eight.

While it may have underperformed commercially, EA Sports FC 25 reviewed slightly better than its predecessor. It currently holds a “Strong” rating on OpenCritic, with an average score of 76 and a 63% reviewer recommendation rate. For comparison, the previous entry has a 74 average and a 57% recommendation rate on the aggregator platform. On Steam, user reviews classify EA Sports FC 25 as “Mixed,” based on nearly 70,000 player impressions. Meanwhile, its Xbox Store rating—based on over 2,200 reviews—sits at 2.4 stars. Much of the fan criticism centers on EA Sports FC 25‘s paid battle pass and a perceived lack of meaningful improvements over its predecessor.

The Xbox Game Pass Wave 1 lineup for June 2025 still has four other titles that are yet to reach the service. The first of those is The Alters, 11 Bit Studios’ sci-fi survival game about a miner who keeps cloning himself, which is scheduled to have its day-one debut tomorrow, June 13. A rare triple release is then planned for the 17th, when Xbox Game Pass subscribers will receive Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, as well as two day-one releases in the form of Lost in Random: The Eternal Die and the Control spin-off FBC: Firebreak.

June 17 is also the likeliest date when Microsoft will announce the Wave 2 Xbox Game Pass roster for this month. In the meantime, the service is scheduled to lose seven titles on June 15, ranging from Hypnospace Outlaw to Rolling Hills: Make Sushi, Make Friends.
