How to Upgrade Weapons in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

If you want to upgrade some of your weapons and gear in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, the process is relatively simple. After you have started up your village, and you’re able to create buildings through Takumi, you will need to make a Blacksmith building. In the story of the game, you will be required to create a Blacksmith building eventually. Here is what you will need to build one:

  • 800 G
  • 40x Lumber
  • 20x Material Stone
  • 1x Iron

After you have finished building the Blacksmith and placed it in your village, approach it and speak to Kihachi. From the options, choose ‘Upgrade’, and then ‘Upgrade gear.’ From here, you will be able to look at the different categories of items you can upgrade, which include:

  • Short Swords
  • Long Swords
  • Dual Blades
  • Bows
  • Pauldrons
  • Headgear

Each item will have different requirements when it comes to the materials you will need to upgrade it, such as Iron, Fletch, Cloth, Bamboo, and more. You will also need to pay money, ranging from 350 G to over 2,000. Most of the materials are relatively easy to obtain, and you can also get villagers to harvest these items for you so you don’t have to get them yourself.

As for upgrading tools, there is a different process you will need to follow. Instead of visiting the Blacksmith to upgrade your tools, you will need to get new recipes for the specific tool that will essentially allow you to create a new, upgraded version of it.

To get new tool recipes, you’ll need to upgrade your Village level. To do this, you open up the main menu, and go to Villages. From here, go under ‘Village Missions’ to find different tasks you can complete to increase your Village Level. This includes a variety of missions, such as:

There are many more that you can complete, and they will slowly raise your Village Level based on the amount of XP they offer. Once you’ve reached the next level, you can visit the God Shrine and approach the sign to complete the Village Level upgrade. Then, depending on the level, you will receive a new recipe for one of your tools, such as a hammer, axe, and more.
