A Nintendo fan made a surprising discovery in their work parking lot, finding a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. While video games and consoles have been found in some unusual spots, this fan was likely not expecting to get a copy of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D on their way to work.
As the first 3D Zelda game, Ocarina of Time for the N64 was a significant title for Nintendo. Thanks to the new perspective, players could explore Hyrule like never before, becoming a fan-favorite installment in the franchise. Unsurprisingly, the game was ported to various consoles over the years, giving newer gamers the chance to experience the classic adventure. It was even added to Nintendo Switch Online via the Expansion Pack in 2021. Beyond porting Ocarina of Time to other platforms, Nintendo released a remake of the game in 2011 that included various changes to the classic formula, including overhauled graphics, stereoscopic 3D effects, and more.

Known as sobbl_ on Reddit, the gamer shared various pictures of the 3DS cartridge on the Zelda subreddit. As seen in the images, the cartridge was badly mangled, with the Reddit user suspecting it had been run over. However, they revealed that the pins on the back were still in alignment, allowing the game to run on their 3DS. They even shared a couple of images of Ocarina of Time 3D running on their system.

This unexpected discovery was a big deal for sobbl_ since they had never played Ocarina of Time before. According to the Reddit user, the previous owner only made it through two temples before quitting. With this in mind, sobbl_ planned to complete the original playthrough. It is worth noting that this parking lot discovery has been a hit on the franchise subreddit, with more than 6.3K users upvoting the post. In the comments, many fans mentioned the infamous Ben Drowned creepypasta from Zelda: Majora’s Mask, joking that this could be a similar situation.
This is just one of the many unexpected discoveries gamers have made over the past few months. Instead of finding a mangled cartridge in a parking lot, another person stumbled upon a couple of PS2 consoles at a landfill. While they had yet to test if it could still play games, the beat-up machines could still power on.
