The initial goal of Manor Lords was to give players one of the most realistic and immersive medieval-based simulation experiences possible. Ever since launching into early access last year, Manor Lords has impressed with its attention to detail and complexity. Developer Slavic Magic is mainly a single dev, Greg Styczeń, but thanks to the help of contracted workers, more progress has been made on Manor Lords.
Between the game’s visuals and sheer complexity, Manor Lords holds a lot of promise, but there is still a long way to go. Despite the lack of consistent content, Manor Lords has still maintained a solid player base, and now that a fresh update is in the works, more curious gamers may be convinced to give the medieval simulator a try. There is one kicker to this update, though. It’s mostly not new content. The next Manor Lords update will be an overhaul of its existing system, which is exciting, but fresh content will hopefully arrive sooner, rather than later.

After the Manor Lords Overhaul, Fresh Content Would Be an Exciting Change of Pace
A Labor of Love
Because of its early access status, it can be easy to forget that the game is still very much under construction. The effort that Slavic Magic is putting into Manor Lords is truly appreciated, but as time passes, the updates are becoming more spread out. It’s been around six months since Manor Lords got its last update, and this upcoming overhaul is part of the main reason why. From the Affinity System to shopfronts and artisan workstations, many of Manor Lords‘ existing features are destined for a rework. Even now, the game boasts an impressive amount of detail in its design and mechanics, so there’s no telling just how much more in-depth and satisfying this overhaul is bound to make the game. Realism has been a key goal of Manor Lords, and this in-development update aims to help that vision come to life even more.
Manor Lords was once the most wish-listed game on Steam. As of February 2025, the game has sold over 3 million copies.
Manor Lords Has Plenty of Time and Room to Grow
Refining the base features will likely make Manor Lords a stronger game, but Slavic Magic hopefully has a variety of unannounced plans waiting in the wings. Granted, Manor Lords has already added some major features since its early access launch. Fishing ponds and crossbows are some of the most notable, but it would be exciting to see more upgrades like these in the near future.
It’s important to note that the overhaul update will at least feature a brand-new map. Called “Divided,” this upcoming map features a small mountain range that divides the area into eastern and western regions. “Divided” sounds promising, as it could set the stage for some fascinating city builds. Each new Manor Lords update has enhanced its realism, so once Slavic Magic is ready to get back to evolving the game’s world instead of the mechanics, the game is bound to feel even more lifelike.

The Wait for More Manor Lords Content May Be Long, But Slavic Magic Deserves as Much Time as Needed
As exciting as fresh content would be, it’s important not to rush a game’s content, either. Manor Lords may still have plenty of ways it can evolve, but it also has plenty of time, too. Even in early access, Manor Lords is already a top-tier medieval city builder.
The next significant content update for Manor Lords may take a while, but that’s okay. In its current form, it’s already a compelling slice of medieval life. Once the system overhaul arrives, it will be interesting to see what Slavic Magic has in store next for the game.
