Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is set to receive some significant upgrades around the middle of July 2025, and the previously announced DLC based on Dragon Ball Daima isn’t the only big change coming to the game. Players of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot on Steam can also look forward to some big visual enhancements, and they’ll be getting them for free.
Breaking from the pure fighting game format that many games, like those in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, have followed across the years, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot presented players with an action-RPG option when it launched in early 2020, closely following the story of Goku across Dragon Ball Z‘s major and minor story arcs. It’s proven to be a successful formula, as a year ago, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot reached an impressive sales milestone with 8 million copies sold.

The DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakaraot adds a lot of content to the game, and these are the DLC packs that provide the best experience.
But with plenty of advancements in gaming technology over the five and a half years since its release, the game’s visuals may look a little dated to some players. A new announcement on the game’s Steam page shows the developers are addressing that problem, on PC at least, with an HD upgrade that promises to provide improved rendering and enhanced environmental graphics. A short trailer included with the announcement gives a few glimpses at the changes to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot‘s world, displaying more realistic reflections on the surface of water, crisper imagery when traveling underwater, and much lusher and more robust plant life. Scheduled for release on July 17, 2025, this upgrade will be free to players who already own Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot on Steam, and those who have yet to join the party have a golden opportunity to do so, as the game is currently on sale for $14.99, a 75 percent reduction of its normal cost.
Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Steam HD Improvements are Coming in July 2025
Fans who have been following the game’s path forward may notice that the launch date of the Steam HD upgrade coincides with the release of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot‘s first DLC based on Dragon Ball Daima. The Daima Journeys Through the Demon Realm Part 1 DLC will introduce a new story from the 20-episode anime that concluded this past February, as a childlike version of Goku embarks on a new quest with allies Glorio, Panzy, and Supreme Kai, in an effort to save Dende from the clutches of Gomah, supreme king of the demon realm.
The game’s Dragon Ball Daima content is expected to release in three parts, but players shouldn’t expect the second round to arrive until early 2026. Producer Bandai Namco Entertainment has recently shared information on new features in Part 1 of Dragon Ball Kakarot‘s Daima DLC, including memorable moments from the anime, like Goku’s fight with Glorio, as well as some new story content that dives more into Panzy’s personal interests. The upcoming DLC will also introduce a new fast travel mechanic, and the floating islands will reveal hidden secrets about Daima’s story.
