Gamer Makes Weird Discovery in Their Nintendo Switch Dock

One gamer found their Nintendo Switch full of ants, both inside and outside the console’s dock. The gamer took to social media seeking help to save their Nintendo Switch, and plenty of other gamers poured in to offer advice and try to make sense of the situation.

Although right now the attention is focused on Nintendo’s new console, the Switch 2, the original Switch continues to be an incredible console that not only laid the groundwork for its successor but also represented a major leap in home video game consoles. While Sony and Microsoft were offering power with the PS4 and the Xbox One, Nintendo offered versatility and a unique gameplay experience. The console is capable of seamless transitions between three play modes: TV (docked), tabletop (with kickstand), and handheld (Joy‑Con controllers attached)—something no other console could do at the time. These factors led the Switch to become extremely popular, selling over 143 million units globally and becoming the 3rd best-selling console of all time. Now, a gamer has made a weird discovery in their Switch.

The Original Nintendo Switch’s Biggest Flaw is Already Happening on Switch 2

Despite the Nintendo Switch 2 boasting improved hardware and software, users are already reporting a returning issue on the successor console.

Taking to Reddit, a gamer known as Nobiting shared a short video showing how their Switch is full of ants, walking across the dock. The gamer even disassembled the Nintendo Switch dock to show the inside, where a huge number of ants are moving around the console’s circuits as well. Nobiting turned to Reddit for help with the situation, and their post gained traction, with many players chiming in to offer advice.

Gamer Finds Ant Infestation in Their Nintendo Switch Dock

One Reddit user strongly advised the player to unplug all electronics near where they found the ants, as ants can conduct electricity and cause electronics to short. Another user told the gamer to check the Switch device and the TV or anything close to the dock, as they might also contain ants, putting their Nintendo Switch console at risk.

While Nobiting’s problem with ants is indeed quite surprising, recently, a gamer lost their home in a fire but discovered their Nintendo Switch survived, with only some minor scorch marks and discoloration. It’s unclear whether Nobiting also managed to save the dock, as the player hasn’t updated the community on what happened afterward.

While the Switch remains a cherished console and still delivers great experiences, the Switch 2 is off to a strong start—not only offering a similar but updated system with better specs, but also introducing several new features, like improved Joy-Con functionalities. As the Switch 2 continues to succeed (selling over 5 million units so far), the original Switch has set the bar very high for Nintendo.
