Diablo 4 Tier List

Diablo 4 builds on a rich history that continues to define the action RPG genre. The franchise has had its ups and downs, but Diablo 4 has thus far been well-received. Many consider it a significant high-point for the series, and there’s good reason for that.

This Diablo 4 Nightmare Dungeon tier list will help players identify the maps that they should target when they are farming XP.

One aspect that makes players so excited is the robust set of character classes. Blizzard is constantly refining them, but what’s on offer at present is a dynamic, balanced roster of classes with unique play styles. Some of the classes are more powerful than others, but none are outright unplayable.

Updated July 6, 2025 by Marc Santos: Season 9 of Diablo 4 introduced another wave of Unique items and balance changes that has shifted power across all the game’s classes. The Barbarian in particular received several nerfs, while the Druid and Spiritborn got some much needed help. We’ve updated this tier list to account for these changes, and we’ve separated the seasonal class and build tier lists too to make them easier to digest.

The Best Endgame Builds for Each Diablo 4 Class (Season 9)

Diablo 4 has a rich, repeatable endgame system that will keep players engaged for years to come if Blizzard plays their cards right. Starting at level 50, every Diablo 4 class gets access to Paragon Boards and a whole host of extra content. The extra progression system offers players more ways to customize their characters. This will come in handy as they face all the new threats they’ll encounter in the endgame.

The following is a tier list of popular builds in Diablo 4 Season 8. As always, expect this to change regularly between seasons or whenever a major balance patch is released. Even the slightest change to a build’s key component can determine its place in a rankings list, so keep an eye out for possible buffs or nerfs in future patches.

How Does This List Work?

This list is ranked according to the number of strong endgame builds each class has. This means that classes in the bottom tier aren’t necessarily bad, they just have fewer powerful builds compared to the ones at the top of the list.

In Season 9, the Spiritborn class is widely considered to be the best due to a possible bug that causes the Jaguar main hall effect to cause attacks to hit more times than intended. However, even without that bug, the Spiritborn is still a very strong class thanks to buffs and Uniques.

The Sorcerer falls to the bottom of the rankings list because of how much better other class builds are compared to theirs. They can still clear endgame content neatly, but other classes can do the same thing they do, but better.

General Diablo 4 Tier List (Best Diablo 4 Classes)

Diablo-4-Season-4-Keyart

Blizzard has made quite a few tweaks to Diablo 4’s classes over the course of its seasons. Many of these controversial changes radically shifted the balance of power in the classes. The following class tier list details how each class compares in terms of ease of play and overall power, from best to worst, and in accordance with how strong they are at all stages of Diablo 4, including the early game. Blizzard will no doubt continue to refine the classes throughout the game’s lifespan, but here’s how they stand as of now:

The following Diablo 4 tier list ranks the best Diablo 4 classes while paying attention to both the leveling and endgame experiences. This is a more general list meant for new players that aims to rank classes from a broader perspective, irrespective of regular balance changes and seasonal content.

S Rank — SpiritbornUnique Loyalty's Mantle helmet for D4's spiritborn

The Spiritborn is pretty much the best Diablo 4 class as of the release of Vessel of Hatred. It’s very hard to compare this one to the rest of the classes in terms of build variety, ease of use, and overall power. Even the weakest builds for this class are on par with the best builds of other classes, and even its early leveling builds outperform everyone else’s. Spiritborn feels more like a Diablo 3 class in terms of power and pacing, making it worthy of its reputation as Diablo 4’s best class.

S Rank — Necromancer

The Necromancer is basically Diablo 4’s best class. They are extremely powerful in all stages of the game, especially now that their minion builds have become far stronger compared to their previous iterations in earlier patch versions. As of Season 4, a Level 35 minion Necromancer with the right build can easily clear the Level 55 Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon without breaking a sweat. Later on, if players find minion builds too unwieldy in World Tier 4, they can always transition to even stronger builds using other skills like Bone Spear and Blood Mist.

A Rank — Rogue

Meanwhile, Rogues sit in a similar power level as Necromancers across all game stages. However, this class does require a bit more finesse on the player’s part. Rogues are capable of high AOE and single-target DPS, but they require better cooldown management and a sharper sense of positioning. Later on, Rogues can be turned into extremely powerful skirmishers wielding both melee and ranged weapons — this flexibility alone is enough to earn them a spot at the top of this list.

A Rank – Druid

Even with all the buffs, the Druid class retains its slow leveling experience relative to other classes. However, its late-game builds featuring Lightning Storm and Tornado have never been better as of Season 4. Once a Druid is properly geared up, they can steamroll through Nightmare Dungeons like a true force of nature. The only things holding this class back from reaching S-tier are its slow early clear speeds and miserable resource management while leveling up.

B Rank – Sorcerer

Leveling up with a Sorcerer can feel a little iffy due to how naturally fragile the class is, but nothing quite beats the feeling of mowing down Hellspawn with magic. This is a very enjoyable class to play that scales fairly well into the endgame, though it can feel a bit stifling when it comes to build variety. The majority of Sorcerer builds rely on having multiple defensive skills at once, which can make the class feel stale at times. Still, Sorcerers can absolutely compete with other classes when it comes to endgame farming and boss-killing, especially with Meteor, Ball Lightning, and Blizzard builds.

C Rank – Barbarian

The Barbarian class is an excellent choice for new Diablo players thanks to their high survivability and simple playstyles. They have the weakest early-game power among all the classes, but they slowly crawl their way up the tier list as players get better gear. Once a Barbarian does reach the peak of their power, they quickly overtake everyone else as an S-tier class with builds focusing on Rend, Charge, and Hammer of the Ancients, even with the nerfs to the Limitless Rage and Encroaching Wrath aspects.

Thankfully, this Diablo 4 tier list doesn’t need a “D,” “E,” or “F” rank. None of the Diablo 4 classes are outright unplayable or totally broken. The game regularly receives class balance updates every season too, so players shouldn’t have to worry about any of the classes feeling bad to play at any stage of the game.
