Destiny 2 Edge of Fate Announces Big Changes to Vendors and Inventory

Bungie announces a big gameplay change coming to the Tower vendors when The Edge of Fate expansion launches in Destiny 2, along with a big inventory refresh for each as well. Positioned as a new phase of Destiny 2, Bungie has slowly been revealing some of the major changes planned for the game once its latest expansion finally releases in July.

Alongside a new story campaign and gear to acquire, The Edge of Fate is bringing some massive changes to Destiny 2, including the new Portal menu selector which aims to give players more control over what they want to play. The Destiny 2 armor system is also seeing enhancements, specifically by adding set bonuses and a new tiered system that adds higher stats and better perks the higher the level. Recently, Bungie also confirmed sweeping changes to the vendors in the Tower, which may make them more viable options.

Destiny 2 Reveals Huge Changes to Exotic Weapons in The Edge of Fate

Bungie reveals massive buffs coming to a number of overlooked exotic weapons in The Edge of Fate, while also making another highly requested change.

In the latest blog post, Bungie announced the Destiny 2 vendor reputation system was being shelved for good for all vendors in The Tower besides Hawthorne. With the removal of these rewards, Bungie did confirm that it has also rebalanced rewards throughout the game thanks to a new approach, something which the post chose not to delve into at this point. Alongside the new rewards tease, the post also confirmed that each of the vendors would be seeing changes to their inventory as well, helping to better focus on what they offer.

Destiny 2 Changing Vendor Inventories After the Reputation System Removal

For the core three of Ada-1, Banshee-44, and the Cryptarch Rahool, each vendor will be more focused with what they offer players. For example, Banshee-44 no longer has Gunsmith Reputation to farm or engrams to sell and instead will only offer legacy weapons for 15,000 glimmer and 3 enhancement cores each. Rahool will continue to let Destiny 2 players focus exotic armor, though only from past expansions, while new exotic armor from The Edge of Fate will be available solely through finishing the legendary campaign. Finally, Ada-1 will be taking Xur’s stock of legendary armor in addition to the usual Threader Bounties and a newly overhauled Transmog Bounty system.

The biggest changes have seemingly hit the weekend exotic merchant Xur in Destiny 2. Over the years, Xur’s inventory has expanded with randomly rolled gear, though in The Edge of Fate, Xur no longer has legendary armor or activity engrams. Instead, the merchant will arrive with 2 exotic armor pieces per class each week, one legacy and one specifically from the Beyond Light, Witch Queen, Lightfall, and The Final Shape expansions. Class exotics will always be available each weekend to those who have unlocked them previously, and Xur will also have 9 legendary weapons which added options from the Brave Arsenal, Legacy Nightfall, and Trials of Osiris pools.
