The Epic Games Store Free Games For July 10 Are the Gift that Keeps on Giving

Even though there have been a few bumps in the road throughout its tenure, the Epic Games Store continues to regularly deliver free games every Thursday since the promotion began in 2018. These titles are rotated in and out at 10 AM CT, complete with the reveal of what can be expected in the next cycle. Even as Epic Games adds or removes free games between rotations, there will always be at least one free title to claim each week.

Last week, Figment was announced as the next Epic Games Store freebie. This wasn’t much of a surprise, though, because Figment was leaked in advance. It wasn’t the only title leaked, though, and many thought Backpack Hero would follow Figment as the July 10 giveaway. Instead, Backpack Hero was added to the free games as Figment went live. Now, players have two games to pick up this week instead of just one, and Figment 2 and Sky Racket are the next free titles that are expected to rotate in. This is particularly great news for those who pick up Figment and enjoy it, as now they can get the sequel for free with other titles to enjoy if it’s not to their liking.

A new month on the horizon means more Epic Games Store free games, and those who are enjoying the one up for grabs right now might like the next one.

Epic Games Store Free Game Backpack Hero Explained

Backpack Hero is a Big Adventure in a Tiny Package

Backpack Hero‘s roguelike nature seems intriguing to jump into until they can’t fit a healing item into their stash. Backpack Hero‘s twist to the typical deck-building roguelike is that the players’ decks are made of everything they can carry on their backs, as the title implies. While critics seem to agree that the combat of Backpack Hero could use some improvement, the inventory management mechanics are widely praised as the best part of the experience.

Epic Games Store Free Game Figment 2 Explained

Figment 2 Delivers More on the Original’s Charming Features

Gamers who enjoyed Inside Out, and perhaps other Disney movies, will certainly find themselves at home in the world of Figment. After the events of the first game, the courageous Dusty once again has to battle nightmares to fix the Moral Compass. When not engaging with enemies, gamers will find themselves thinking hard about colorful puzzles scattered across the whimsical landscape. While some critics say playing the first Figment game isn’t needed to enjoy Figment 2, the fact that the original is available for free before the sequel gives fans an ample opportunity to explore both games at no charge.

Like the original Figment game, Figment 2 once again serves as an allegory about mental health, focusing on closed-mindedness and anxiety.

Epic Games Store Sky Racket Explained

Shoot-Em-Up and Brick Breaker Fans Might Find Sky Racket to Be a Match Made in Heaven

Through colorful landscapes of bullets and breakables, Sky Racket players will need to knock back attacks at enemies to save a powerful capybara goddess. While there are many arcade and retro-inspired indie games out there, Sky Racket holds a very positive rating on Steam, with some players saying the genre-combining title managed to feel just like a Sega Genesis title would have back in the day. A simple playthrough of Sky Racket will take players a little over 3 hours to complete, making it a perfect pick-up-and-put-down addition to Epic Games’ growing list of free games.

July’s first freebies prove that even if the Epic Games Store’s lineup is leaked, there’s still a chance that the storefront might throw some surprises players’ way. Sometimes sequels follow up their predecessors on the free games page, but not often, so fans of Figment should definitely take this chance to enjoy both games. If players don’t feel like the musical mental health journey is their cup of tea, hopefully they’ll find something in Backpack Hero or Sky Racket. There will always be another exciting set of games around the corner on the Epic Games Store, so players should make it a point to check the free games page regularly for some unexpected future favorites.
