PC gamers on Steam have an opportunity to get Black Desert for free, but only until July 10. The MMORPG doesn’t charge a monthly fee, so players can dive into what Black Desert has to offer without having to spend extra cash.
Currently, the Steam Summer Sale is ongoing on the PC game distribution platform. It’s typically an exciting time for PC gamers, as a lot of titles receive significant discounts that are often the lowest they will see over the course of the year. Perhaps the only thing better than a big discount on a fun game is getting it for free.

The Steam Summer Sale 2025 has begun. These are the best open-world games to grab.
Until July 10 at 10 am, players can get Black Desert for free on Steam. The title usually costs $9.99. All a user needs to do is to go to the Steam Store, look up the game, and select “Add to Account.” The game will be promptly added to the player’s library, and they can install it or simply keep it to check out at a later time. Since it’s not a free trial, players can keep it in their accounts for as long as they like without paying anything. However, players should be aware that the game doesn’t drop Steam Trading Cards, as is typically the case for all free-to-keep games on Steam.
Is Black Desert Worth Playing?
Black Desert originally released back in 2015, so it’s a bit older now, but the title has been acclaimed by many players for its open world, impressive visuals, and in particular, its character creator. Black Desert‘s character creator was ahead of its time at release, allowing players to so heavily customize their characters that some have even gone so far as to recreate celebrities utilizing the game.
Black Desert also uses a unique combat system, more akin to a 3D fighter than a typical MMORPG. Whether in PvP or PvE, players will need to learn combos to make the most of the game’s fluid combat system. The combat has been described by players as addictive and exciting, but it can have a steep learning curve at the start. Black Desert also recently added a hardcore server option.
This isn’t the first time that Black Desert has been available for Steam for free. The game previously offered the same opportunity from the end of 2024 to the start of 2025, and prior to that, in March 2023. There’s no guarantee as to when this offer might come around again, so players who are interested should jump at this chance. However, for anyone who misses out, there could be future opportunities somewhere down the line, given this pattern.
