Basic Mechanics In Kiuchi Palace

Kiuchi Palace Basic Mechanics and Movement Persona 5 The Phantom X

Kiuchi Palace has lots of different traps, puzzles, and traversal mechanics that players need to understand before trying to delve into. There are various puzzles that use pressure plates, and players need to move Pitching Machines (Baseball Spitting Contraptions) to activate pressure plates or to shoot at target switches.

Players will also have a chance to ‘ambush’ enemies to gain an advantage during combat (Chance). But some enemies cannot be ambushed as they will be static. In those cases, they will be guarding important loot, switches, or area transition doors.

Breakable objects grant Konpaku Gems, and can be spotted using the Sight (Q in PC), which also highlights puzzle objectives, hidden codes, and other visual clues that players need to follow in order to traverse the Palace.

One of the main things to keep in mind is that players will have to unlock certain doors using Color Baseball Balls, and Fan Cards. Fan Cards are found during intermissions (cutscenes) between the Main Story that follows the Kiuchi Palace infiltration, and what happens outside of the Metaverse (in the real world).

All Types Of Puzzles In Kiuchi Palace & How To Solve Them

Puzzles in Kiuchi Palace are quite simple, and they only require a little bit of observation. But just in case, here’s a quick guide on how to solve each type of puzzle found inside the palace:

  • Display Case Puzzles: They appear in rooms with lots of mementos kept under lock in crystal cases, with a small tactile screen in front. They require the use of the Third Eye to discover which are the mementos that need to be activated in order (by touching the screens) to open the door.
  • Pressure Plate Puzzles: Moving Ball Pitching Machines and putting them on switches. Pretty straightforward. The more complex of them require players to check players’ positions in bases (like in Baseball) and place the crates or machines in the correct positions.
  • Pitcher Hand Gesture Puzzles: Doors will have a code representing certain Hand Gestures (Thumbs up, Left, Right, Down), and players need to activate the Thumb-switches in order to open them.
  • Disco floor pattern puzzle: Activated by walking on the correct tiles. Some of them require following a circuit evading the Pitcher spiky gloves, and reaching the flag representing the Base.
  • Moving Platform Puzzles: Players need to move through certain platforms, and sometimes, move Ball Pitching machines to shoot at Targets and activate the switches.
  • Baseball Ball Doors: Not actually puzzles, but doors that need to be unlocked by finding Gold, Blue, and Pink Balls. Some might require various of these.
  • TV Screen Projection Puzzle: It appears in only one room in the Exhibition hall, players need to press the touchscreen in the middle when the Kiuichi Symbol (K) is displayed until all of them display the symbol.

Kiuchi Palace Walkthrough

At the start of the Infiltration, players will need the Grappling Hook, which can be crafted in the Workbench at their homes. Once they have the Grappling Hook ready, they can start infiltrating Kuichi Palace. The first area to explore will be the Exhibition Hall 1F, which is a pretty straightforward location, with low difficulty puzzles (still, it is recommended that players consult the Puzzle Section above to familiarize themselves with each type of puzzle) and a one-way path that leads to uncover the first Cutscene, battle Kiuchi’s minions and finally reach Exhibition Hall 2F by going through the Central Zone of the Exhibition Hall.

Players will soon find themselves in a dead end and will have to return later after a cutscene. But don’t panic, this is normal for every Palace exploration, and will repeat several times until players face the Boss. These ‘Intermissions’ are often accompanied by a big chunk of gameplay outside the Metaverse and a sub-quest to level up Wonder, so be patient and follow the Main Story. In the first of these Intermissions, Lufel and Wonder will return to prepare more, not without grabbing the Fan Card Tier C from the Control Room in Exhibition Hall 2F.

After Motoha Arai joins the crew, the exploration becomes a little bit more complex. There are new traps to avoid (mostly ball-spitting traps, and Baseball Glove traps), and enemies to defeat along the way. The next objective is to go back to the Central Exhibition Hall, where players will spot a puzzle that requires them to Defeat a Strong Shadow, then this shadow will murmur a code (3..1..3..2..0). If players use the Third Eye, they will see a series of Display Cases with Baseballs inside. Players need to activate the one that has 3 balls, then the one that has 1 ball, and again the one that has 3, followed by the one that has 2 balls, and the one that has no balls inside for the last.

Players need to use the Elevator to reach the Southern Rooftop Access, and then traverse this zone to reach the Training Hall. A new zone with more puzzles, mainly focused on Ball Pitching Machines can also cause damage to players if they are hit with the balls, so be careful. In this section of the Palace, players need to acquire the B Fan Card, by reaching the locker room on the opposite side of the building. It’s going to be a long route, so prepare to face a couple of challenging enemies blocking the way.

After the cutscene, players will be able to trace back a little bit and reach a new area. The second elevator becomes available, opening the route to the Northern Rooftop that leads to Club 1F. Upon entering, players will notice that the landscape has changed significantly: New puzzles, including Pitcher Hand Gesture and Disco Floor Pattern, are the new challenges to solve. Players will also need to consider picking up whatever Chest and Memory Shard they come across, to ensure they at least have a certain level of completion before coming back to explore each zone in detail.

How to Solve Kiuchi’s Palace Baseball Field Puzzle in Persona 5: The Phantom X

There’s a baseball field puzzle in Kiuchi’s Palace that can be rather tricky to complete, here’s everything you need to know about solving it.

The Club has 3 Floors, each of them interconnected through a series of passages, stairs, and air ducts. The A Fan Card that can be obtained in the first playthrough of Kiuchi Palace is located at Club 2F, in a VIP Room of sorts. Wonder and the crew need to solve a main puzzle in the Dance Floor (located at Club 1F) to reach the stairs that lead to 2F. Start by unlocking the second floor by solving the Pitcher Hand Gesture puzzles and deactivating the Electrical Switches.

Once players have opened the way to the Club 2F, and solved all the puzzles, they will obtain a Pink Ball Key. They need to return to the Dance Floor (Club 1F), and defeat some enemies on their way, then they will be able to climb to the 3F through the door that leads to the stairs, and open the path to the last area: the Center Field. After a cutscene, players will be directed to go back to the Real World to distribute a Challenge Card, forcing the boss Kiuchi to appear. Now, teleport back to the Center Field Safe Zone, and enter the Treasure Room to challenge the boss.

How To Beat Kiuchi Palace Boss Cupid

Players will first face Kiuchi in his ‘human’ form, which is relatively easy to defeat. Then, after beating him, he will evolve into Cupid, showing his ‘true form.’ Cupid is bulkier and more resilient, and the battle will happen in three phases. Players will have to beat him three times (four in total counting Kiuchi’s human shadow form), and each phase has its own mechanics.

In the first phase, Cupid will target one of the party members, who needs to defend before he unleashes a powerful attack that deals massive damage.

In the second phase, Cupid calls two Angels to the fight, which are quite annoying and need to go out first before players can deal enough damage to the Boss to force him into going to the third and final stage.

During the third phase, Cupid calls two cheerleader shadows that will empower him, causing the next turn to be a powerful all out attack that can wipe out the entire team. Players need to execute these cheerleaders to force Cupid into submission, stunning him and allowing players to deal even more damage. This mechanic repeats until the boss is finally defeated. After the cutscene, players will escape the Palace, which will be destroyed. But players shouldn’t worry, as they can come back later for the 100% Completion run.

Fan Card Locations

Players need to be aware of certain things before trying to get 100% completion of Kiuchi Palace, and one of them is related to an item specific from this dungeon: Fan Cards, which are basically access cards that open certain closed doors and grant access to each of the areas’s loot and hidden Bosses.

Fan Cards go from Rank C, to B, to A, and finally S. The infiltration into Kiuchi Palace has three Intermissions and a Final Boss, with each intermission granting one of the cards starting with C, and ending with A. The A Tier Fan Card grants access to the final location of Kuichi Palace (Club Floor 3) and to the Boss (Cupid). Once players have beaten the boss, they will be able to come back to the Palace through the Recollections tab in the Metaverse menu, to reach 100% Completion.

At that point, the S Tier Fan card will become available, and players will be able to access the rest of the Palace. To get the S Tier Fan Card, players need to return to the Club 3F, through the zone opposite to where they accessed the Central Field, then use the Air Ducts to open a path towards the VIP Room in the Northernmost side of the Third Floor.

It is not possible to reach 100% completion of Kiuchi Palace until players beat the Boss and steal the Treasure.

How to Complete 100% Kiuchi Palace

Kiuchi Palace 100% Completion Guide

Before reaching Kiuichi Palace 100% Completion, it is important to mention that players won’t be able to complete this Palace 100% unless they beat the Palace Boss (Cupid). When they do so, the Palace will effectively disappear, but players will be able to visit it again through the Chamber of Recollections Menu in the Metaverse Tab. The other important aspect is that consulting the Completion Rewards menu in the Map window helps track down progression, and each area has a progression chart of its own, which is also a nice feature.

Breakable objects are not part of the Completion Requirements for Kiuchi Palace, but they still provide Konpaku gems when broken. It is recommended that players pick them up anyway to get more of this currency.

The following References will help players spot every chest, Boss, and secret in Kiuchi Palace, to reach 100% Completion. Check the images at each of the areas to spot each of the collectibles needed to earn all the rewards:

  • Purple: Chest
  • Red: Sub-Boss Shadow
  • Green: Safe Room
  • Blue: Puzzle
  • Yellow: Baseball Location

Exhibition Hall 1F

Kiuchi Palace Exhibition Hall 1F Persona 5 The Phantom X

  • Contains: 25 Chests, 3 Sub-Bosses (Strong Shadows), a main puzzle in the Central Exhibition Hall (the solution is in the walkthrough guide above) with a Memory Shard next to it, and a Display Case Puzzle on the western side of the floor. Players need to watch the shadow guarding the valuables or kill it and use the Third Eye to spot the footprints in the rug, then activate the display cases in the correct order. Some of the chests might require Lockpicks, so make sure to bring at least 18 of them to open all chests.

Exhibition Hall 2F

Kiuchi Palace Exhibition Hall 2F Persona 5 The Phantom X

  • Contains: 1 Sub-Boss, 1 Chest (Locked), Tier C Fan Card. A Pretty easy to complete map, the only detail to keep in mind is that the Strong Enemy becomes available when players return to this place after leaving for the Real World. So come back later to face the Strong Shadow and clear that from the Completion chart. Don’t forget to grab the locked chest in the corner of the room.

Training Hall

Training Hall Kiuchi Palace Persona 5 The Phantom X

  • Contains: 33 Chests, 3 Memory Shards(used to watch Thief’s Memories), 4 Sub-Bosses, and several annoying puzzles to solve, like the Baseball Field ‘Home Run Puzzle’ which requires players to check the screen for the position of the players at the bases, and replicate the play using boxes that can be pushed over pressure plates. Sub-Bosses here are not as hard as the ones found in the Club area, so players around level 20 can still take them down.

Club 1F

Kiuchi Palace Club 1F Map Persona 5 The Phantom X

  • Contains: 16 Chests (Locked ones), 1 Main Puzzle, 3 Sub- bosses, various Disco Floor Puzzles, and Pitcher Hand Gesture Puzzles, 4 Baseball Ball Keys (marked in Yellow), the last of which can only be accessed after players acquire the A Fan Card, and deactivate the Electric Barrier in the Central Dance Floor.

Club 2F

Kuichi Palace Club 2F Persona 5 The Phantom X

  • Contains: 23 Chests, 3 Sub-bosses, A Pitcher Hand Gesture Puzzle, and a Disco Floor Puzzle. Lastly, there are three Baseball Ball Keys to be collected, which will help with opening one of the Golden Lock doors (marked in Yellow). Make sure to bring at least one Lockpick, as the chest in one of the east-wing rooms is closed.

Club 3F

  • Contains: 12 Chests (1 under lock), 2 Baseball Keys, 2 Sub-Bosses, and 3 main puzzles, one of which requires players to examine a panel in the north eastern electric room using the Third Eye, to figure out the 4 possible combinations to open certain doors through a Pitcher Hand Sign Puzzle.

If players have collected all the Chests, Memory Shards, and defeated all the Bosses, they will reach 100% completion, and unlock the final rewards of Kiuchi Palace in Persona 5: The Phantom X.
