Once Human Has Great News for Console Gamers

Once Human has finally announced its arrival on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, which is scheduled for 2026. Developed by NetEase-owned Starry Studio, Once Human is a popular online survival game currently only available on PC and mobile.

Back in July 2024, Once Human first hit the PC storefronts and firmly established its presence on the platform, getting over 230K concurrent players at launch on Steam alone. As a result, it is one of the prominent online titles from NetEase, alongside games such as Marvel Rivals, Naraka: Bladepoint, and FragPunk. Since its initial launch, a flurry of Once Human updates have contributed towards retaining a significant chunk of its players, enabling the multiplayer game to still attract over 30K concurrent Steam players every day. In the near future, that level of player engagement looks set to increase considerably, with the console ports now more or less being set in stone.

During its 2025 Global Annual Showcase stream on July 2, the team behind Once Human revealed its plan to roll out PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the free-to-play game in 2026. It shared that the development of these ports was “nearing completion” and that the previews and platform-specific optimizations would be unveiled “soon.” Meanwhile, PlayStation and Xbox players can go ahead and wishlist the game to receive exclusive early-bird rewards at launch. On the official website, it was confirmed that existing Once Human players on mobile and PC will be able to use the same account for playing the game on consoles. However, it appears that the PlayStation and Xbox editions will likely take some time before they “catch up with the progress” of other editions, after which all ports are “expected” to maintain consistency in this regard.

With Once Human set to land on consoles next year, NetEase will soon cater to another new demographic of players, consisting of console users, after already bringing mobile users into the mix in April. With the game’s Android and iOS versions boasting a rating of 4.6 out of 5 and 4.5 out of 5, respectively, they can confidently be seen as successful releases. The devs working on Once Human‘s console versions will hope they can repeat something similar when the time comes.

At present, interested players can check out the Once Human Annual Version 2.0 update, which was released on the same day as the livestream was aired. The latest content refresh includes a new Once Human class system, the Endless Dream PvE scenario, the Dreamland Wonder event, and more for players across PC and mobile.
