Nintendo Switch Online has often been criticized for its lack of features when compared to its contemporaries, with the lack of a party chat system being one of the most prevalent. To make up for those shortcomings, Nintendo Switch Online offers an extensive library of retro video games that encompasses 20 years of gaming history. Thanks to the Nintendo Switch 2’s recent release, that library is even bigger.
Along with finally bringing a party system in the form of GameChat, the Nintendo Switch 2 has added a GameCube library to Nintendo Switch Online. There are currently just four GameCube titles available for NSO, those being Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, Soulcalibur 2, and the recently added Super Mario Strikers. Six more are confirmed to be on their way soon, but even then, there’s a plethora of GameCube games that deserve a spot on Nintendo Switch Online.
Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion, Chibi-Robo, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, and Pokemon Colosseum are all confirmed to be coming to Nintendo Switch Online in the near future, so they won’t be appearing on this list.

Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Wish List: Super Smash Bros. Melee
By far the most obvious pick on this list, Super Smash Bros. Melee is one of the best GameCube games of all time, and it’s probably the most requested addition to Nintendo Switch Online’s retro library. To many fans, Smash Bros. Melee is still the best in the series, with its faster pace, high skill ceiling, and freedom of movement still making it a great pick for competitive tournaments.
It feels like only a matter of time before Super Smash Bros. Melee is added to Switch Online, especially given that the NSO GameCube controller would be such a perfect fit for it.

Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Wish List: Resident Evil 4
One of the most ported video games of all time, Resident Evil 4 was originally a GameCube exclusive when it first released in 2005. Resident Evil 4 revolutionized the third-person horror genre, making it an important part of not just the GameCube’s history, but the history of the wider gaming industry as well. It deserves to be played by anyone and everyone, and a Switch Online release would get it into even more hands.

Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Wish List: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
When Zelda: The Wind Waker hit the GameCube in 2003, a portion of vocal fans expressed their disappointment over the game’s cel-shaded, cartoony art style. 2006’s The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was a direct response to this backlash and the slower sales of Wind Waker. Though a remastered Twilight Princess Switch port has been rumored for years, it still hasn’t materialized. A place on Nintendo Switch Online might be the next best thing.

Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Wish List: Mario Kart: Double Dash
Mario Kart: Double Dash was a tad divisive upon its 2003 launch due to its central gimmick of letting players control two characters at once. Over time, this core feature has given Mario Kart: Double Dash an incredibly distinct identity, one that helps it to stand out over two decades and seven entries later. Mario Kart: Double Dash deserves a second lap on Nintendo Switch Online.

Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Wish List: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Though it’s been rumored to appear for years now, a Metroid Prime 2 remaster is still nowhere to be seen. Much like Twilight Princess, the next best thing for Metroid Prime 2 might be a place in Nintendo Switch Online’s GameCube library, and it’d be a great appetizer to Metroid Prime 4‘s eventual release later this year.
