How to Inherit New Skills in Persona 5 X

Skill Inheritance is a major mechanic in almost all recent Atlus games, which players have come to rely on to make the best Personas and demons. Persona 5 Phantom X may change a lot of general Persona mechanics to fit the game’s unique format, but it does still have skill inheritance.

There are two ways for a Persona to learn new skills, with each one requiring Persona Seals, a new and very important currency players will want to start stocking up on right away. Here’s how to inherit new skills and pass new skills onto your Personas in Persona 5 Phantom X.

There are a lot of books that can raise every social stat in Persona 5 Phantom X; here’s where to get each one and the social stat they raise.

How to Learn New Skills in Persona 5 X

The main way you’ll be learning new skills in Persona 5 X is through the Persona Training menu in the Velvet Room. In the Persona Training menu, you’ll select the Persona you want to learn a new skill on along the left side of the screen, then select, “Teach Skill” in the bottom right. From here, you’ll get a list of Persona Seals you currently have in your inventory.

Selecting a Persona Seal and using the Training button in the bottom right will randomly transfer one of the skills listed from that Persona Seal onto your Persona. This can be done as many times as you’d like with as many seals as you’d like to give the Persona a huge list of skills to choose from, though you can only have so many equipped at a time. Persona Seals do have set skills, so you’ll need new seals to find different skills.

There’s no way to increase the odds or determine which skill will be learned other than by learning the other options, so they are not applicable.

How to Change Persona Skills

Once a skill is learned by a Persona, you’ll need to equip the skill:

  • Select a Persona in the Velvet Room or in the party menu.
  • Select Change Skills in the bottom right.
  • Choose which skills you want to unequip to make room for those you select to equip.

How Does Skill Inheritance Work in Persona 5 X

Skill Inheritance does still exist in Persona 5 X, though the skills transferred are determined by the Persona Seal, and not a Persona you created and passed skills onto. While this may seem like a step back, one benefit of skill inheritance is that a new Persona learns all the skills of both seals used to fuse it, giving new Personas huge pools of skills to choose from and use even before you start transferring new skills onto the new Persona. Newly fused Personas do come with powerful set skills, so sometimes the best thing to pass to a new Persona is helpful passive buffs.
