Helldivers 2 Players Have Another Chance to Get Some Rare Cosmetics, But There’s a Catch

A few months after Helldivers 2 was revealed during the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, Arrowhead Game Studios announced in September that year that the game was finally available for pre-order on PlayStation 5 and PC. Like with many video games these days, the title featured several pre-order bonuses at the time. Players who purchased Helldivers 2 before its official release got access to a couple of new cosmetic armor sets, which could only be obtained in this manner. Arrowhead Game Studios did not make the armor sets available to those who bought Helldivers 2 at a later date, which seemingly made them inaccessible to newcomers forever.

Although Helldivers 2 was a major live service title that was being published by PlayStation, the game wasn’t on many people’s radar leading up to its release. However, when it officially came out on PS5 and PC in February 2025, the game blew up in popularity through word of mouth and became an immense commercial hit, becoming the fastest-selling PlayStation-published title in history. That said, many of the Helldivers 2 players were unfamiliar with the game prior to its debut, so they did not pre-order it and, thus, missed out on its exclusive pre-order bonuses. Now, though, they finally have a chance to get these cosmetics again, albeit with a massive catch.

Helldivers 2 Players on Xbox Can Get Three Rare Armor Sets Right Now

Helldivers 2 is Coming to Xbox in August, and Pre-Orders Are Available Now

Out of nowhere, Arrowhead Game Studios made the surprising announcement earlier this week that Helldivers 2 will be making its way to Xbox Series X/S. This is a completely unprecedented move from the company, largely due to the fact that it is the first PlayStation-published game to ever be released on Xbox. Unlike MLB The Show and the upcoming Marathon, two other Sony first-party titles on the platform, the publisher for Helldivers 2 on Xbox is PlayStation Publishing LLC. Since the Helldivers IP is currently owned by PlayStation, it seems that the company has made the decision to bring the game to Xbox willingly, rather than being forced to do so due to licensing issues.

Helldivers 2 is going to be released on Xbox Series X/S on August 26, 2025, which is coincidentally the same day that Gears of War: Reloaded will be launched for PS5. Pre-orders for the game are available on the Xbox store now, for both the Standard and Super Citizen Edition versions of the title. Just like before, Xbox players who purchase Helldivers 2 ahead of its official release will get access to exclusive armor sets. These include the yogurt-themed TR-7 Ambassador of the Brand, the black-and-red TR-62 Knight, and the white-and-gold TR-9 Cavalier of Democracy.

The three armor sets that Xbox players can get access to right now all have their own unique buffs. The TR-7 provides a higher armor rating, the TR-62 increases a user’s throwing range by 30% and gives them 50% extra limb health, and the TR-9 reduces the chance of dying while taking heavy damage.

The Pre-Order Exclusive Armor Sets Are Currently Available Exclusively for Xbox Players

The cosmetics included in the Helldivers 2 Bonus Pre-Order Content Bundle on the Xbox Store are, interestingly, the exact same limited-time items that were available to PlayStation and PC players beforehand. This means that, for those who don’t have access to these three armor sets, pre-ordering the Xbox version of the game is currently the only way to obtain them. Sadly, Helldivers 2 does not have cross-progression, so PlayStation and PC players who really want these sets will have to start over the entire game on Xbox in order to acquire and use them.

PlayStation and PC Players Will Get Access to the Pre-Order Exclusive Armor Sets Again Eventually

Although some existing Helldivers 2 fans on PlayStation and PC may be upset that Xbox players are getting a chance at acquiring these rare cosmetics before they do, the situation isn’t completely hopeless. Recently, a developer at Arrowhead Game Studios confirmed in a Discord post that PlayStation and PC users will have the ability to get the exclusive pre-order armor sets at a later date. Right now, however, there is no information on when this content will become available to the current Helldivers 2 player base again, so fans may have to wait until after the Xbox port of the game is released before this happens.
