Firebreak Releases New Update for July 2025

Remedy Entertainment has recently released a new minor patch for the recent FBC: Firebreak, continuing to improve the game. Unlike previous patches such as 1.3, the newest FBC: Firebreak update is small and mostly focuses on improving stability and fixing some issues.

Released in June, FBC: Firebreak has been a mixed bag so far. FBC: Firebreak received generally mixed reviews, with some critics praising its clever class system and opportunities for great team synergy, but elements such as monotonous in-game tasks and a lack of variety in game modes were criticized by some. Due to this reception, FBC: Firebreak currently holds an average critic score of only 64 on OpenCritic.

FBC: Firebreak Is at its Best When It’s Channelling MMOs

FBC: Firebreak is branded as a first-person co-op shooter, but it borrows from a variety of genres, and it’s at its best when channelling MMOs.

Now, Remedy Entertainment has released the new 1.3.1/1.003.001 update for FBC: Firebreak. The update improves connection stability and fixes some issues related to the automatic reconnect feature, which were introduced in the previous patch but didn’t seem to be working very well all the time. The small patch also fixes a bug where a countdown appeared incorrectly on the screen, and provides additional backend support to diminish the downtime in future updates. When compared to the previous Patch 1.3, which updated the Perk economy and made progression smoother, the new one is fairly minor, but it’s still important to improve overall stability and polish in FBC: Firebreak.

Last week, FBC: Firebreak surpassed over a million players. FBC: Firebreak can be played as part of the Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus Extra subscriptions, but gamers who do not use the services have to pay $40 to purchase the game. In any case, these are impressive numbers for Remedy’s newest title and show that there’s a fair share of gamers trying it.

Despite the apparent success on consoles, FBC: Firebreak seems to be struggling on PC. Recent reports have indicated that FBC: Firebreak’s peak concurrent player count on Steam went below 2,000 people, a fairly worrisome number for a multiplayer-focused game. Fortunately, the game has crossplay, so gamers can play on their platform of choice without worrying about having to wait too long before matches.

Hopefully, Remedy will continue improving FBC: Firebreak in the near future and attract a larger audience for the shooter. Last month, two new major updates were teased for FBC: Firebreak. Codenamed “Outbreak” and “Blackout,” these new updates would bring new gameplay systems, enemies, equipment, and areas, likely giving more variety to the live service game, which could attract a larger audience.
