Best Crossplay Games On Xbox Game Pass

Although still not a default practice, crossplay has grown considerably in popularity. Nowadays, cross-platform games are not unheard of, which makes sense since these titles rely on having active communities. If it is possible to bring everyone together rather than divide the player base, that should extend the project’s lifespan.

One of the best deals in gaming, Xbox Game Pass has an impressively diverse library that caters to most genres and player requirements. Although not heavily promoted, Microsoft’s subscription service also has a few cross-platform titles. Therefore, that begs the question – which are the best crossplay games on Game Pass?

Updated on July 3, 2025 by Mark Sammut: While not overly stacked with multiplayer projects, June 2025 produced one relatively big addition to the lineup of crossplay Xbox Game Pass games. Admittedly, the game has some issues, but this is the best time to jump on board.

Also, Rematch should eventually support crossplay, but the feature was not ready for the game’s launch.

FBC: Firebreak

A Decent Multiplayer Shooter That Could Use (Way) More Content

Remedy needs no introduction, but the developer is not remotely associated with multiplayer games. FBC: Firebreak launched directly on Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus, gaining immediate access to a large audience that, hopefully, will keep it alive for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, the game did not exactly launch to widespread acclaim, but it still warrants a mention. Personally, I had some fun with it.

Here are the best passive skills players can get to help them survive FBC: Firebreak’s hardest jobs.

So, what is FBC? The Control spin-off is a first-person shooter that takes up to three players to take on map-based missions, which mostly follow an extraction format. With only five maps, the game does require players to repeat the same stages, which gets a bit exhausting after a while. There are some build and class options, so variety is not completely absent.

33 Immortals

Survive Hell With Friends And Strangers

Currently available in early access/game preview, 33 Immortals is still a work in progress; however, the current version is already impressive and provides a fairly complete experience, at least in terms of showcasing the roguelite’s core gameplay loop. One of the most existing co-op games in a long time, Thunder Lotus’s project delivers on its title’s promise: 33-user multiplayer. Now, that does not mean you will be constantly battling alongside 32 other people, as that is rarely the case.

Putting aside time spent in the Dark Forest, which is the hub area, you are dropped onto a large map, where you are encouraged to explore, kill monsters, collect resources, take on Torture Chambers, and eventually defeat the main bosses. For the most part, players will split up into smaller groups so they can cover as much ground as possible, especially since certain challenges come with restrictions anyway. 33 Immortals emphasize smart and cohesive teamwork, and even as groups spread across the terrain, they are still all working toward the same endpoint.

In terms of actual gameplay, 33 Immortals shares similarities with Hades, offering fast-paced isometric action with stylish combat. As a roguelite, players will constantly be upgrading their skills during a run, and long-term progression is tied to the Feat Level. There are also plenty of weapons to pick from, although sticking to one is generally advised.

33 Immortals is only available on Xbox and the Epic Games Store.

Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition

A Co-Op Blast With Some Drawbacks

Borderlands 4 is set to drop later in 2025, and the project’s pre-release material has garnered a somewhat mixed response so far. Still, Gearbox’s game will undoubtedly be among the year’s biggest co-op releases, along with being (hopefully) a very good and lengthy FPS solo option. While not every entry in the franchise has received equal acclaim, Borderlands is, for the most part, a fairly consistent series, especially when it comes to looter shooters.

At this point, most people likely already have an opinion on this IP as a whole. However, complete newcomers who want to take their first step into this wacky universe can check out Game Pass’s Borderlands 3. Ignoring the story and characters, the 2019 release has arguably the best gameplay in the franchise, at least when it comes to the numbered entries. As always, players step into the shoes of Vault Hunters, and they head to Pandora to help out the Crimson Raiders. Each of the four classes has unique abilities that set them apart from each other, along with three skill trees that allow for fairly different builds. Solo players can have a blast trying out different characters, while co-op teams can focus on building a well-rounded party.

To make matters even more enticing, Game Pass has the Ultimate Edition, which comes with basically everything. That includes the four DLC campaigns, which are generally regarded to be superior to the base story. While its writing tends to get quite a lot of criticism, Borderlands 3 is still overall a very good co-op FPS game.

Madden NFL 25

Step On The Field With PS5 And PC Players

While not 100% guaranteed, most modern sports games tend to incorporate crossplay support, just because these projects live and die because of the viability of their online sessions. Thanks to its collaboration with EA Play, Xbox Game Pass has a few cross-platform sports games, although exceptions exist. For example, EA Sports FC 24 and NHL 24 support crossplay, but UFC 5 does not.

Madden NFL 25 has quite a few multiplayer options, and they generally support cross-platform play. For instance, the feature is available in Franchise and Ultimate Team, which are arguably the most popular modes in the game.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6

PvP Multiplayer And PvE Co-Op Both Support Crossplay

With new releases being a yearly tradition, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 should not have felt like a big deal. Activision’s game was always going to be a huge commercial success because the IP has become so inescapable that financial failure seems impossible; however, the previous entry, Modern Warfare 3, garnered pretty universal criticism, especially its single-player campaign. Even the usually reliable Zombies mode struggled to receive a global nod of approval, largely thanks to MW3 taking an open-world approach that lacked the intensity of waved-based missions. Therefore, Black Ops 6 was a sure-fire blockbuster, but it was hardly a guaranteed critical darling.

Call Of Duty Black Ops 6: Best Weapons For The Strike Stakeout Map

The Stakeout map is the smallest in Black Ops 6, meaning players will have to use unique strategies and specific weapons to succeed.

More importantly, the game debuted directly on Game Pass, a first for the franchise. This presented a rare opportunity for COD to bring back lapsed players who had grown tired of the formula and had no desire to drop cash on a new project. To cater to these returnees (or even newcomers), BO6 wisely incorporated a lengthy and enjoyable single-player campaign that hearkens back to the franchise’s glory days.

As good as the story is, BO6‘s legacy will be defined by its multiplayer, both the PvP modes and Zombies. Wisely, crossplay is thoroughly supported, allowing players from all ecosystems to play together. This is a particularly big deal for Zombies, which mostly reverted to Black Ops Cold War‘s formula. That is not a bad thing. PvP also plays things safe, delivering reliable maps and staple game modes. BO6 is among the best Call of Duty games in a long while, and it serves as a great reintroduction to the franchise.

Moving Out 2

A Party Without Restrictions

Nothing in the world is less fun than moving from one house to another. The event is tedious, frustrating, and prone to disastrous errors; the sooner it is done, the better. Naturally, this process sounds like the perfect basis for a video game series! Moving Out serves as a prime example that developers can make anything fun with the right creativity and, more often than not, co-op. The original 2020 entry is a delightful psychics-based sim that challenges players to take charge of a moving company that tends to accept requests that are a bit unusual. It proved that this concept can work in a party setting.

Moving Out 2 builds upon its predecessor’s foundations, delivering a similar gameplay loop that is enhanced through far more absurd scenarios. Yes, this is a multiverse adventure that sends movers across dimensions. Putting aside the ridiculous missions, Moving Out 2 is, at its core, a puzzle game about finding the ideal path to ensure that as many items survive the transfer process in one piece, which is easier said than done. Communication is key, especially since the title really should be played with a few friends. Sure, single-player is an option, but Moving Out 2 loses a lot when co-op is not involved. It is simply designed for multiplayer. Fortunately, the game supports cross-platform play, so it should not be that difficult to set up a play session.

Diablo 4

An Action RPG That Is Far Better When Played With Friends

Diablo 4

9/10

Pros & Cons

  • 2-Player Local Co-Op
  • 4-Player Online Co-Op
  • Campaign Can Be Played With Friends
  • Cross-progression

Following a stellar debut, Diablo 4‘s post-launch life has been slightly messy. Blizzard’s action RPG has developed a mixed reputation, with every new update seemingly muddying the water more. Even if not universally loved, Diablo 4 is nevertheless a big deal with plenty of positives in its favor, including a reasonably fun single-player campaign that should be able to keep someone entertained for a couple of hours. However, this franchise has never prioritized storytelling, and that remains true with the 2023 entry. As such, players will be spending most of their time grinding for loot in the endgame, which is the section that has arguably garnered the most criticism.

Unsurprisingly, Diablo 4 shines the brightest when played in co-op, a feature complemented by widespread cross-platform support. The multiplayer element has some issues, like launching with a lack of a global chat, but co-op can be an absolute blast as it allows players to take advantage of the different classes’ complementary capabilities. More importantly, Diablo 4 has come quite far since its launch, steadily developing into a more robust and complete experience. While the Vessel of Hatred expansion requires additional investment, Blizzard regularly releases free updates that improve (or just change) the base game.

Mortal Kombat 11

Mortal Kombat 11

9/10

Pros & Cons

  • 3-Player Online Co-Op (Team Raids)
  • Towers Of Time

Mortal Kombat 11 is extra special since it is one of the few Xbox Game Pass crossplay games also on PS Plus Extra; therefore, subscribers can face off in epic and bloody duels. That said, NetherRealm’s Krossplay comes with a few restrictions since players need to be on same-gen hardware. Furthermore, the feature is only available on PlayStation and Xbox systems; however, Xbox players can face off against PC users who are using the Microsoft store.

Sea Of Thieves

The Ultimate Swashbuckling Co-Op (Or PvP) Fun

Ever since its rough launch in 2018, Rare’s Sea of Thieves has amassed a dedicated fanbase who appreciate its free-roaming structure, stylish visuals, and frequent updates. Although the waters are not bereft of solitary adventurers, Sea of Thieves is largely intended to be a co-op experience, with players being encouraged to create crews to get the most out of the pirate life.

Regardless of whether someone seeks companionship or not, they will meet other players at some point or another since Sea of Thieves is an always-online multiplayer game; consequently, it benefits from crossplay support. Considering the title will likely always be available on Game Pass, it makes sense to combine the community into one online space. That said, controller-only players might struggle in PvP scenarios against pirates controlled by keyboards and mice, leading to a few unbalanced encounters. As such, Sea of Thieves’ crossplay is mainly for when friends from different ecosystems want to join forces.

Xbox users can disable crossplay support if they wish.

F1 24

Mixed Bag Multiplayer That Has Its Moments

Codemasters’ F1 games are generally dependable, even if the curse of the annual release means improvements are incremental rather than significant. F1 24 is arguably the best entry since EA’s acquisition of Codemasters, and it is a fairly accessible experience that tries to be welcoming to new players while still catering to veterans. Solo players who have no intention of taking part in online races can just stick to MyTeam or a career mode that features real-life drivers.
