Developer Everstone Studio has recently announced the date for Where Winds Meet’s final global playtest, which will take place between July 24 and 31. Where Winds Meet is an action-adventure open-world RPG with Wuxia-inspired combat, and despite still not being released globally, it’s one of the most exciting games of the year for fans of the genre.
Where Winds Meet was originally announced at Gamescom in 2022. The title, which is set in the closing days of the Ten Kingdoms period in 10th-century China, allows gamers to play as a wandering swordsman, fighting both humans and monsters in a huge world. Despite not being available globally, Where Winds Meet was released for PC in China in December 2024, followed by a mobile release in January 2025, and it has been greatly successful since then.

Now, developer Everstone Studio has confirmed that Where Winds Meet’s final playtest will take place between July 24 and 31. To participate in the playtest, gamers have to sign up, and they will be notified via email if they are selected. Unfortunately, however, Where Winds Meet still does not have an official global release date, so gamers who are left out of the playtest will still have to wait some time until they can finally explore the urban region of Kaifeng and its environments, where the playtest will take place. In any case, the title is expected to be out before the end of 2025. The final playtest comes on the heels of Where Winds Meet’s beta test, which was available for gamers based in the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea, and lasted from May 16 to 19.
When Will Where Winds Meet’s Final Playtest Happen?
- The playtest will run from July 24 to July 31, 2025.
It remains to be seen how successful Where Winds Meet will be globally when it finally releases. However, it’s worth noting that Where Winds Meet was a huge hit in China, where it gained over 15 million players. That’s a very high number considering the title was released in a single country, even when considering that China has over 1.4 billion inhabitants.
It’s possible that Where Winds Meet will feature among the best open-world RPGs released recently. According to the developers, the game will have over 150 hours of content and more than 10,000 NPCs, and it could have additional DLC, meaning that it will be a meaty experience for gamers who want to get lost in a fantasy version of China, exploring its countryside, cities, and more.
