It’s become pretty much standard for all live-service games to have a Battle Pass. Quite often, these Battle Passes can be filled mostly with underwhelming cosmetics or skins that don’t really fit the tone of the game they’re in. That’s not the case with Marvel Rivals, however.
Marvel Rivals is incredibly lucky in that it has eight decades of comic book lore to draw on for its Battle Pass and paid cosmetics. Developer NetEase has done a fairly decent job so far of spreading the love among everyone on Marvel Rivals‘ roster. But, as should be expected of the world’s most popular superhero, Spider-Man has more than his fair share. That said, there are still countless iconic Spider-Man costumes left to come to Marvel Rivals, one of which is finally coming to the game on July 3, albeit with a potential asterisk attached.

Marvel Rivals Finally Completes Its Future Foundation Set
For the last month, Marvel Rivals has been gradually adding the full set of Future Foundation costumes. On May 30, Mr. Fantastic opened the floodgates, with his Future Foundation skin appearing as a free cosmetic in the season’s Combat Chest event. Invisible Woman and The Thing were given their Future Foundation suits in a special paid bundle on June 13. And finally, Human Torch was given his Future Foundation skin on June 19 for free via the Venom’s Bubble Pop event.
But there was still one costume missing from the set. For those unaware, Marvel’s Future Foundation team came about following the “death” of Human Torch at the hands of Annihilus in Fantastic Four #587. Before he went off to sacrifice himself to stop the Annihilation Wave, Johnny Storm left his best friend Peter Parker a message. Acting as a sort of last will and testament, Johnny asked Peter to join The Fantastic Four in his stead. Spidey does just that, joining the ranks of the new Future Foundation, getting an awesome new costume in the process.
Marvel Rivals is finally completing the set by giving Spider-Man his Future Foundation suit. Available on July 3 for those in the US, Spidey’s Future Foundation costume captures the spirit of its comic counterpart expertly while adding a few unique flairs of its own. One really nice touch is that the suit can change from the classic white and black color scheme to a stealthier all-black variation, which is a reference to the comic suit being made from Unstable Molecules.
Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing, Human Torch, and Spider-Man aren’t technically the full roster of the Future Foundation, but no one else on the team is currently in Marvel Rivals.
Spider-Man’s Future Foundation Skin Shouldn’t Come At The Cost of A Symbiote Suit
Dropping alongside Spider-Man’s Future Foundation suit is a new costume for Captain America. Called “Captain Klyntar,” this suit gives the Star Spangled Man a Symbiote makeover. This costume seems to be a tease for Marvel Rivals Season 3, as soon after its reveal, the Marvel Rivals Twitter account posted a short clip of what appeared to be a Phoenix Egg (possibly teasing a playable Jean Grey or Phoenix Force-imbued Cyclops) with the caption “Klyntar is about to ignite.”
It’s been rumored for a while now that Marvel Rivals Season 3 will revolve around Knull, the God of Symbiotes, and that the season’s Battle Pass will contain an assortment of Symbiote-themed skins. One of the most requested Marvel Rivals Spider-Man skins is his iconic black Symbiote suit, and it would be a real shame if fans missed out on that skin in favor of having his Future Foundation suit.
Though it’s always possible NetEase adds a Spidey Symbiote skin anyway, regardless of how recently the hero got a new costume.
