How to Get S Rank Deliveries in Death Stranding 2

If players want more likes in Death Stranding 2, they are going to need to make exceptional S+ deliveries. S rank deliveries are possible in Death Stranding 2, but for players who want to go above and beyond, they can prove that they are a Legend, or a Legend of Legends, or even… a Legend of Legends of Legends.

There’s more to do in private rooms than sleep in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. Here are some worthwhile things to do while taking a break.

Claiming a unique title like the Legend of Legends in Death Stranding 2 is only possible with S-rank deliveries on Normal difficulty or higher, so if players want to stop getting less than stellar ranks when they deliver their cargo, then these useful tips might help.

Bring a Weapon for Defense

BTs and MULEs Shouldn’t Always Be Avoided

shooting a mule

While it’s often the safest idea to avoid BT areas and hostile territory taken over by MULEs and bandits, sometimes, being brave is the best thing forward. BT areas can come and go depending on the weather and the timefall rain, but MULE bases are static and will remain in place, and even grow in power if left unchecked. Players should take care of these areas so that they’re safe to travel for a few in-game days, and so that no cargo is damaged or snagged when passing through. As such, it’s a smart idea to bring a few weapons on the journey so players will know if, along the road, they will face a MULE or a BT that needs eradicating.

7

Don’t Use the DHV Magellan

Fast Travel Disables the Ability to Get An S Rank Delivery

dhv magellan

The DHV Magellan is the central hub for Sam to use, and it has a special ability that allows it to traverse through the tar, effectively making it a fast travel station so Sam can quickly go from one facility to the other without any hassle. While this seems like an effective way to transfer cargo, it’s vitally important that players are made aware that by using the DHV Magellan, they will forgo any S rank that could have been claimed. Any cargo that’s on the DHV Magellan, including in private lockers, will receive the DHV Magellan rank when delivered, which provides a low source of likes and certainly no S rank, so avoid using this fast travel station and deliver cargo the old-fashioned way.

6

Avoid Steep and Rocky Terrain

Hitting Rocks and Falling Over Destroys Cargo Quality

A rogue rock in the road is more of a burden than one might think, and can be the small catalyst that results in a delivery gone wrong. If players hit even the smallest rock too hard when they’re going full speed in a vehicle, then they could end up bumping their cargo and causing some immense damage. The same goes for players who are sprinting and lose their balance, so try to be mindful of the terrain at all times and use the scanner with L1 to see what’s easy to traverse and where it’s safe to go so that players are not damaging cargo due to foolish miscalculations.

5

Keep A Container Repair Spray On Hand

A Porter’s Best Friend Against Timefall

repairing cargo

Timefall rain is the greatest enemy of cargo, as this accelerating aging rain will cause the condition of the cargo’s parcel durability to crumble until it has rusted. If players fail to stop the timefall rain from eating the cargo container, then the contents inside are far more likely to be damaged, thus resulting in negative consequences. To avoid such a thing, make sure you bring at least one or two Container Repair Sprays so that you can fix the container condition without worrying about damaging the contents inside when Sam is near areas with heavy timefall rain.

4

Plan the Route Ahead

Make Sure You Know Where to Go to Avoid Cliffs and Lakes

planning a route

When taking on an order, players can plan a route, allowing them to see the conditions ahead. Some conditions might call for steep terrain, traversal of rivers and flooded areas, or perhaps even hostile territory infested with BTs and MULEs. Whatever the situation is, it’s best to come prepared by planning a route. There’s nothing worse than being on the road and running out of battery on a vehicle because you’ve lost your bearings, or you’ve bitten off more than you can chew by entering easily avoided hostile territory, so check the map and keep an eye on the surrounding areas that lead to the delivery site.

3

Don’t Burden Yourself With Lost Cargo

Becoming Over-encumbered Will Overwhelm Players

a bundle of cargo

Sometimes, it’s satisfying to load up a truck with all the cargo that one can carry and head off onto the road for some epic deliveries. However, that can usually result in a foolish endeavor. The more cargo players pick up, the more likes and connection points they can build. However, if players pick up too much cargo across a multitude of different facilities, then they are bound to get lost and overwhelmed in deciding where to go next, which could result in burnout and sloppy cargo delivery conditions. It’s best to plan accordingly on where to go and pick up lost cargo for that facility instead of for other facilities on the path that could be thousands of meters away.

2

Understand the Conditions

Every Order Has Unique Conditions for S Rank

checking the s rank requirements

Each order that Sam takes can be unique, but the principle is usually the same. Whether it’s requiring Sam to travel to a specific area to eliminate enemies or simply going from one facility to another with cargo, Sam will have S-rank conditions to meet. Most of these conditions involve making sure the cargo has less than 5% damage, so once players have accepted an order, it’s safe to create a save file in case something goes wrong. Keep an eye on cargo condition and the mission requirements to ensure that you’re mindful of the objective that will get you an S rank delivery.

1

Unload Cargo Before Combat

Avoid Cargo Being Trampled by BTs and Shot by MULEs

enemies at sam's cargo

It’s sometimes a good idea to engage in combat, allowing Sam to blow off some steam and secure an area so that other porters and he can traverse the area without risk of death and stolen cargo. However, these areas are ripe with enemy attention, and whether it’s bullets that go flying or BTs that crash into anything they charge at, it’s a good idea to unload cargo at a safe area so that players can engage in combat without having to worry about the condition of their items getting destroyed to ruin their S rank.
