Some fans think that Grand Theft Auto 6 could include one-handed shooting, which GTA 5 teased in trailers but never included in-game. Hype around the title has reached astronomical heights, but specific gameplay details remain relatively scarce, making the perfect recipe for speculation and rumors. While Rockstar hasn’t confirmed it yet, some Grand Theft Auto 6 promotional material seems to suggest it could take some inspiration from unused GTA 5 ideas.
The latest installment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise has a lot to live up to, considering the massive success of the last one. At least three GTA 5 actors have said they’d like to return for a GTA 6 DLC, and fans have already pored over the trailers to see what’s new and what could be the same between the two games. One of the most interesting ties between the two, though, could come from something that never actually made it to GTA 5.

GTA 6’s Guns Could Aim for Realism, But The Opposite May Be Best
The ways that Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to expand on its predecessor may extend to making guns more realistic, but this could be a misstep.
Redditor Kamil210s posted a side-by-side comparison of screenshots from trailers for GTA 5 and GTA 6, showing characters in both holding pistols with one hand. As Kamil210s explains, GTA 5 showed Michael shooting one-handed in the teaser but that the feature never appeared in the gameplay. They then posited that GTA 6 could change things up and include it as an in-game option. Notably, a leaker says GTA 6 will include a Red Dead Redemption 2-style weapon wheel, and RDR2 does include a one-handed shooting stance. If Rockstar is using some Red Dead mechanics, there may be a chance this feature makes the cut.
Some Fans Think Grand Theft Auto 6 Will Feature One-Handed Shooting
Other fans were less convinced. Some pointed out how earlier GTA 6 screenshots suggest Jason has a military background, and soldiers are typically trained to shoot with both hands, so it may not make sense for his character to hold his gun in just one. Others said that leaked versions of the game show Lucia firing her pistol with two hands, although the leaked build could be an early version, and leaks are not always trustworthy.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said that Rockstar wants to make GTA 6 “the best thing anyone’s ever seen,” which could mean a heavy dose of including things fans have wanted from previous entries in the franchise. At the same time, it’s hard to draw firm conclusions about any gameplay specifics from trailers and speculation. Gamers will have to wait for more official news to get a better idea of what to expect.
