New Horizons Player Discovers Diabolical Way to Punish Sea Bass

One Animal Crossing: New Horizons player fed up with catching Sea Bass while ocean fishing has taken to releasing the creatures into freshwater out of spite. Fishing is one of many activities players can enjoy in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but when attempting to catch more rare and valuable fish, catching common Sea Bass one after another tends to wear on the nerves.

Nintendo’s newest console was finally released on June 5, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons received a Switch 2 update soon after, with the game still wildly popular five years after its initial launch. Saved data on the original Switch can be transferred to the Switch 2, allowing those who have put thousands of hours into cultivating the perfect island to continue perfecting it to their heart’s content. As more players are encouraged to return to the cozy life sim on Nintendo’s more robust hardware, one user is giving many Animal Crossing fans a new idea when it comes to how to deal with Sea Bass, one of the most disliked creatures in the game.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Latest Update Should Only Be the Tip of the Iceberg

Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s latest updates are the first ones the game has received in more than 2 years, and they hopefully won’t be the last.

In a recent post on the Animal Crossing subreddit, user turtledragon05 shared a humorous video showing their character in New Horizons catching a Sea Bass from the ocean and immediately releasing it into freshwater to get revenge on the poor creature. While it’s impossible to kill any characters or animals in the game, the user says it’s the closest they can get to doing so, with many players in the comments commiserating with this frustration. Several other users shared their similarly dastardly punishments, with one sharing that their friend would put Sea Bass in fish tanks next to the ocean, taunting them with freedom but never allowing it. Another admitted to tossing them in freshwater ponds, so they would have no way to escape back to the ocean.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Player Releases Sea Bass Into Freshwater

While New Horizons has been on the market for over half a decade, it looks like a new entry may be on the way soon. The release of the Nintendo Switch 2 has prompted many fans of the franchise to inquire about a new mainline title, and a recent rumor implies that the next Animal Crossing game will be announced soon, potentially during a Nintendo Direct livestream in July.

In February, Nintendo revealed its updated list of the best-selling Switch games, with Animal Crossing: New Horizons coming in second with over 47 million copies sold. In the top spot is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at over 67 million units, with both Legend of Zelda titles also ranking highly. The Switch 2 is off to a strong start, with Mario Kart World already selling over 1 million units in Japan alone.
