Death Stranding 2: On the Beach players have found a stunning Ghost of Yotei Easter egg during gameplay, which gives Sam Porter Bridges a fantastic cosmetic to don. Death Stranding 2 was written, produced, and directed by the legendary Hideo Kojima, and the plot is set 11 months after the events of the first, post-apocalyptic game. Players return to pilot freelance porter, Sam, across Australia in a bid to locate survivors and save humanity.
Death Stranding 2 has only been on the market less than a week and the anticipated sequel has already achieved critical acclaim, with critics and fans praising the acting collaboration, featuring an ensemble packed with talent like Normal Reedus, Troy Baker, Lea Seydoux, and Elle Fanning, the life-like visuals, and surreal story. However, some Death Stranding 2 players have reported overheating consoles while playing, and it’s sadly a technical glitch that has nothing to do with fans playing 24/7.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is finally here, and so are its multiple graphics modes, though not all options are created equal.
Shared by ReaddittiddeR on Reddit, a screenshot was posted on the Ghost of Yotei subreddit showing Death Stranding’s Sam wearing a familiar mask. Adding to Ghost of Tsushima’s Easter egg dedicated to Horizon Zero Dawn, another PlayStation exclusive, Death Stranding 2 has included a “Yotei Mask” from Sucker Punch Productions’ upcoming sequel, described as an “unusual mask” found by the Adventurer in the snowy mountains that reminded him of Mount Yotei in Japan. Players will need to meet with the Adventurer in the F5 East Distribution Center first and then complete a handful of rescue missions concerning the character’s father to obtain the mask.

Fellow Redditors were further motivated to press on in Death Stranding 2 to find the mask, and one player wanted to be notified if a Bloodborne hat is discovered at any point. The original Death Stranding included several Easter eggs that only true fans found, such as Mads Mikkelsen’s dance moves and the popular Peeping Tom detail, but the Ghost of Yotei discovery will surely be a sought-after nod as PlayStation users patiently wait for Sucker Punch’s sequel.
Despite Kojima Productions paying homage to the Ghost of Tsushima successor, both Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei are likely to be top contenders at 2025’s The Game Awards. Like every year, Geoff Keighley’s awards show will present nominations for Game of the Year to the public for voting, combined with media outlets’ critique, and both action-adventure games are expected to make the list, alongside hit releases Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
