Palworld’s Terraria Collab Lets Players Do Something the Latter Never Did

Right at the end of November 2024, Pocketpair announced that Palworld would be getting its first-ever crossover update, themed entirely around Terraria. Although it kept most of the details about the collaboration under wraps at the time, Pocketpair added a Meowmare Sword to Palworld during the game’s Feybreak update to celebrate the news. In May 2025, the Terraria crossover update was officially unveiled with the name, “Tides of Terraria,” and it was revealed that it would feature far more content than initially expected. Pocketpair promised that the collaboration would add new pals and islands, and that it could be enjoyed by Palworld and Terraria fans alike.

Palworld‘s Tides of Terraria update was finally released for all platforms earlier this week, and, as Pocketpair claimed, it’s filled to the brim with all-new content. This crossover update brings some of Terraria‘s monsters to Palworld, and it features completely new skins, a raid boss, extra gameplay mechanics, several skills, craftable buildings, weapons, armor pieces, an arena challenge mode, side missions, and seven additional islands. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, Pocketpair has also added a unique Terraria-themed dungeon to Palworld as part of this update, which players can visit to gather materials from the Terraria universe.

Palworld’s newest update brings fresh content and a long-awaited collaboration, expanding the game with new creatures, mechanics, and improvements.

Players Can Tame the Eye of Cthulhu in Palworld

The New Terraria Monsters in Palworld, Including the Eye of Cthulhu, are Classified as Pals

Out of all the new features that Palworld‘s Tides of Terraria update contains, though, there’s one in particular that really stands out. In Palworld, players can now fight and tame the Eye of Cthulhu, one of Terraria‘s most iconic monsters. All the monsters from Terraria that are featured in this update are categorized as Pals in the game. Because of this, they can be used in pretty much exactly the same way that a regular Pal can. Players can keep the Eye of Cthulhu as a companion, force it to work in a factory, and even use it to breed other Pals.

Since They’re Different Types of Games, Terraria Doesn’t Let Players Tame the Eye of Cthulhu, Unlike Palworld

Terraria and Palworld share a few superficial similarities, but they’re completely different kinds of games. Terraria is a 2D action-adventure sandbox game with some survival elements, and Palworld is more of a traditional open-world survival game, albeit one with monster-catching gameplay mechanics. It shouldn’t come as a surprise, then, that Terraria does not let players tame the Eye of Cthulhu (or, really, any of the enemies in the game), like Palworld now does.

In Terraria, the Eye of Cthulhu is one of the first major boss enemies that players may come across in their playthrough. It is, as its name suggests, a giant floating eyeball with vein-like tentacles that has the ability to fly through blocks and spawn other mini eyeball monsters. The Eye of Cthulhu can be defeated pretty easily on Classic difficulty, and, as such, it doesn’t have any particularly valuable drops. Although it normally spawns by itself in the world of Terraria, it can be summoned manually using an item known as the Suspicious Looking Eye at nighttime.

The Eye of Cthulhu in Palworld is Noticeably Distinct from Its Terraria Equivalent

In addition to the fact that it can be tamed, the Eye of Cthulhu’s incarnation in Palworld is a tad more different from its Terraria counterpart. Here, the Eye of Cthulhu can only be found in the Sealed Realm of Terraria, a small island situated right next to the volcano in the game. Players who enter the dungeon on this island can challenge this monster to a battle. Unlike in Terraria, though, the Eye of Cthulhu is a very difficult enemy to defeat. If players manage to capture and tame it, the monster’s demeanor ends up becoming a lot more docile. In the newly-released Tides of Terraria gameplay trailer, the Eye of Cthulhu can even be seen expressing happiness as a player in the game rubs its body. Terraria fans will probably never be able to get the Eye of Cthulhu as a pet in their game, but at least they can finally do so in Palworld.
