Tarsier Studios’ Little Nightmares 2 is the 2021 sequel to its well-received 2017 debut horror title that also garnered high reviews and audience scores. Little Nightmares 2 took the striking claymation art style, creepy world and level design, and intuitive puzzle-solving mechanics that the first introduced and expanded on them to create an even more unsettling but still satisfying adventure through an eerie landscape.

After Little Nightmares 3 was hit with a delay back in 2024, the third entry is currently set to launch later this year on October 10. Interestingly, Tarsier isn’t developing this third title, as Supermassive Games, best known for Until Dawn and its Dark Pictures Anthology series, has taken over developing duties for the next installment. Tarsier is instead launching a new IP this year that looks to be capturing and iterating on many of Little Nightmares‘s core elements. However, there are some factors at play at the current moment that combine well to provide an opportune way for new players to check out Little Nightmares 2 or for returning fans to give it a replay.

Supermassive is also set to release Directive 8020, the next entry in the Dark Pictures Anthology franchise, with it scheduled to release barely a week before Little Nightmares 3, on October 2.
