Saber has provided an update on what fans can expect from Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s Year 2 content, as well as unveiling an upcoming update to celebrate the game’s anniversary. Space Marine 2 is a hack-and-slash shooter, serving as a sequel to the 2011 predecessor of the same name. A mix of melee and ranged combat shapes the high-octane action, and players man the returning protagonist, Titus, who leads fellow Space Marines, Chairon and Gadriel, through a campaign against the Tyranid swarms.
Space Marine 2 reached an impressive sales milestone recently, as the game heads towards the end of Year One. During its September 2024 launch, the sequel attracted more than 2 million players on its first day, with Warhammer fans and critics alike praising its visual design, action, and performances by Clive Standen as Titus and Madam McNamara as Acheran.

Space Marine 2’s Leaked Returning Game Mode Could Be a Double-Edged Sword
Space Marine 2 fans may soon get to play a popular mode from the first game, but there was one good reason it was left out of the game for so long.
Posting on Steam, the dev team revealed what players should expect content-wise after Year One, following Space Marine 2’s Patch 8 update, which also rolled out the new Siege Mode in tandem. It was confirmed that a second year of both free and DLC content was on the way, which will be included in a new yearly season pass, and players can expect fresh PvE missions, enemies, weapons, and more. A large-scale 10.0 update is also planned for September, designed to celebrate the game’s first anniversary, but this means the game’s new mode will be pushed back.
Space Marine 2 Confirms Year 2 Content Plans and Major Anniversary Update
- Second year of free and DLC content
- Anniversary 10.0 Update in September (Includes PvP Mode)
- New Power Axe melee weapon
Space Marine 2’s PvP mode will be delayed from the 9.0 patch to the big 10.0 update, but the team revealed the mode will feature a new map, it will oppose two sides, and new Chaos armors will be added. If that wasn’t enough content to populate the 10.0 update, a new melee weapon, the Power Axe, will be added, joining the established list of Space Marine 2’s best melee weapons.
Players warmly received the devs’ update, and one fan spoke for the rest of the player base to say how proud they were of the team for making Space Marine 2 “the best game of its genre.” In the interim, players are more than happy to lose several hours to the title’s new Siege Mode. Adding to the positive response from fans, the Warhammer community also has a Space Marine 2 customization update to look forward to, as well as Space Marine 3, which has already been confirmed to be in the pipeline.
