Diablo 4 revealed a new pet, but players’ response to the announcement was mixed due to its cost. That is not the first time the community has reacted to Diablo 4‘s monetization practices, with other episodes making headlines since the game came out in 2023.
Diablo 4 players expressed dissatisfaction with microtransactions right after the launch. They argued that the items for sale in the in-game shop felt too expensive for a premium title, with a set of armor costing as much as $28. The crossover with Berserk was also the target of backlash, with gamers frustrated that it would take $150 to unlock all cosmetics and items. Now, Diablo 4 has revealed a new microtransaction that will be available soon, but the community is not so happy with it.
