Oblivion Remastered Enemy Hoards Ridiculous Number of Potions

An Oblivion Remastered player was shocked to discover that a single Boethia’s Chosen was hoarding over a hundred Strong Potions of Healing. While there are several ways to make money in Oblivion Remastered, potions have always been one of the most valuable things that players can loot – if their carry weight is taken into account. By that same virtue, Alchemy has also been a traditional moneymaker, as it allows the Hero of Kvatch to gather a bunch of cheap ingredients to produce lucrative potions.

However, certain enemies can be uncharacteristically generous with their loot, such as goblins having hundreds of arrows in their possession. A common misconception is that Luck in Oblivion Remastered affects drop rates, but the reason why enemies are sometimes stacked with loot is due to a leveling bug. Instead of resetting their entire inventory whenever the player gains a level, some enemies keep getting new items added on top of their old ones.

One Oblivion Remastered Leveling Route is Virtually Unbeatable

Oblivion Remastered players can take an easy and yet very rewarding leveling route to dramatically improve their characters.

This is certainly the case with Boethia’s Chosen, an enemy type that players will encounter when doing the Boethia quest in Oblivion. As seen on Bornwithoutaface6yo’s post, a single Boethia’s Chosen can carry 118 Strong Potions of Healing, each worth up to 149 Septims. Other items affected by this bug in Oblivion Remastered include enchanted arrows, making Boethia’s quest an extremely profitable affair if started as late as possible.

Oblivion Remastered Player Discovers Over a Hundred Potions on an Enemy

Due to how level scaling works in Oblivion Remastered, it’s generally preferred for players to hold off on completing certain quests. This especially applies to the main quest, as the Hero of Kvatch can obtain one of the most powerful items in the game if they hold off on progressing through The Path of Dawn until Level 22. Other notable enemies that come with stacked inventories include the Priests of Order from Shivering Isles, holding multiple Hearts of Order on their person.

While Septims become trivial at higher levels in Oblivion Remastered, the value of having Strong Potions of Healing or enchanted arrows is not to be underestimated. Assuming the Hero of Kvatch hasn’t maxed out their Alchemy in Oblivion, the big advantage that pre-made healing potions have is that their restoration effect is instant. This quality allows the player to dodge life-ending scenarios, making Strong Potions of Healing an essential item for adventuring. It remains to be seen if further Oblivion Remastered updates will ever fix this bug, but many players would likely argue that the loot system works just fine.
