Awakening Players Want Bigger Bank Storage

Some Dune: Awakening players are voicing concerns over the limited storage capacity of the in-game Bank, calling for Funcom to increase it. Many of their grievances come down to concerns about Dune: Awakening not being designed to allow meaningful breaks without risking a significant loss of progress.

Funcom’s latest MMORPG has several mechanics that can cause loss of progress in case the player takes an extended break from the game. Chief among those is Dune: Awakening‘s base decay system. At its core, it requires players to log into the game every few weeks to refuel their base generators and pay their taxes. Tax fees are proportional to the size of the base area claimed, and they remain fairly nominal even at the higher end of the range. Taxes and fuel aren’t intended to be money sinks, but work in tandem as a way of differentiating between active and inactive players.

Dune: Awakening Smashes Funcom Record

On the back of a successful launch, Dune: Awakening goes on to cross a major milestone and simultaneously smashes a certain company record for Funcom.

Dune: Awakening‘s social hubs are also home to Bank buildings, which can be used for safekeeping resources, whether while away from the game or while undertaking dangerous activities. However, some players aren’t happy with the overall storage capacity on offer. A portion of their grievances was recently voiced by Reddit user YouShouldAim, who argued that the 1500v limit falls significantly short of what would be needed to mount a “solid comeback” after a break, at least from the perspective of a solo player in endgame.

Some Dune: Awakening Players Feel Taking a Break Feels ‘Intimidating’

YouShouldAim’s post received enough attention and upvotes to emerge on the front page of the game’s largest subreddit in late June 2025. This momentum indicates that at least a portion of the most hardcore Dune: Awakening players—the kind participating in online discussion about the game—agree with their sentiment. Their approval ostensibly extends to YouShouldAim’s assessment that the very prospect of taking a break from the game feels “intimidating” right now. The player argued this could have the opposite effect than what Funcom intended, as “the fatigue will build” regardless, and after a solo player inevitably takes a break, they will be less motivated to return to the game due to how much progress they lost.

Dune: Awakening Guilds Make Taking a Break Easier

Joining a guild facilitates the core maintenance tasks, as all members’ bases share a singular upkeep resource pool. This makes it possible for active members to cover for those taking a break indefinitely. The only potential caveat with this approach is that some fans find Dune: Awakening‘s guilds a bit too easy to accidentally get kicked out of.
