One of the unwritten rules of Persona 5: The Phantom X is that Persona Skills can be leveled up, and players need to keep this in mind before engaging in any difficult fight, since the level of the Phantom Assassin’s Persona skills determines how much damage they do, how much health they can recover, and how effective their buffs and debuffs are.

So, with that said, this guide will help players navigate through the Skill Leveling system, with useful information on how to level up skills, what materials are required to increase each skill, and where to find more.

How To Level Up Phantom Thieves Skills In Persona 5 The Phantom X

All of the Phantom Thieves (4 or 5-Star) characters that players can get through Persona 5: The Phantom X gacha system have only one Persona, and their Skill levels can be augmented using Incense from the Thieves tab of the main Menu.

  1. Open the Thieves Tab.
  2. Select the Phantom Thief, and then select ‘Persona.’
  3. Inside the Persona Menu, select the Skill to level and then press ‘Level Up’ at the bottom right corner.
  4. A certain amount of Incense of various qualities will be required to level up the skills.

From Levels 1 to 3, players will require Skill Incense S, from levels 3 to 6 players will need Skill Incense M, and from levels 6 to 10 players will need Avatamsa Incense to max out their Persona skills. These can be obtained either from the Realm of Repression Enlightenment tiers, or from Event Rewards, Objective Rewards, Plan Rewards, and regular drops from containers and Sub-Boss Shadow battles.

Players can also pick up lesser quality Incense and upgrade it to a better quality one using the Workbench. Three Skill Incense S can be turned into one Skill Incense M, and so on.

Not all material conversion recipes are available from minute 0, players need to progress further in the Main Story and level up Wonder before unlocking new recipes.

It is also important to mention that special attacks, like Highlighted moves, level up as the Phantom Thief reaches more advanced levels or higher levels of Awareness.

How To Increase Wonder’s Persona Skills

The main character’s Persona Skills cannot be upgraded directly from the Thieves tab in the main menu. Instead, players need to open the Velvet Room menu, then select Persona Training, and then Teach Skilll (Enlightment).
