Where to Find the Ghost of Yotei Easter Egg in Death Stranding 2

With the Yotei Mask, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach continues the trend of Sony-published games sharing Easter eggs. In this case, the Yotei Mask is clearly a reference to the eagerly anticipated Ghost of Yotei, the sequel to Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima. Fans of both series will be excited to learn that this Easter egg isn’t simply a small landmark or section of written text. Sam can actually wear this mask, though it will take a fair amount of time before it becomes available. In this guide, we’ll show you how to get the Yotei Mask in Death Stranding 2.

Meet the Adventurer:

DS2-Adventuer-Intro

After making your way through the Australian portion of Death Stranding 2, you’ll eventually receive Order 21, which tasks you with locating and rescuing the captured friend of a new prepper known as the Dowser. You won’t know it at the time, but this will be your first introduction to The Adventurer. This character plays the central role in locating the Yotei Mask, but you’ll first have to continue through the game until you unlock his shelter.

Eventually, when you are well into Episode 8, you’ll receive Order 36, which tasks you with entering the massive mountain range to deliver a meteorite to The Adventurer. When you arrive, you’ll discover that the Adventurer’s Son is the only one in the shelter, and that his father is once again in need of rescuing. This will lead to Order 37. This is a very tough order that sends you up the mountain peaks to rescue The Adventurer. Once you complete Order 37, you’ll be in the desired position.

The Adventurer’s Message in SSS:

After completing Order 37, continue on and you’ll likely start Episode 9. Shortly after this, you should receive a notification from the SSS indicating that you’ve got a new message from The Adventurer. The image that comes along with the message is clearly a blacked-out mask. He informs you that he would like to give you a reward for rescuing him twice, and mentions that you must bring him cargo to receive this reward.

The wording of the message should make it clear that any cargo you bring the Adventurer will suffice. You can either look for a standard order to bring to the Adventurer, or you can simply try to find a piece of Lost Cargo. It does not matter. Once you receive the message on SSS, any cargo you bring to The Adventurer will be enough to secure the Yotei Mask.

While it may not be required, we highly recommend completing this task as soon as you get the message from The Adventurer. This particular character is constantly finding himself in need of rescuing. It is currently unclear if The Adventurer will head out if you don’t collect the Yotei Mask immediately, or if collecting the mask triggers his next departure. Either way, it’s better to be safe and collect it right away if you are interested in the mask.

How to Use the Yotei Mask:

The Yotei Mask is considered face equipment, so it can be found in the same menu section as sunglasses and the DS2‘s Harmonica. Hold left on the D-Pad, then hover over the upper left side of the radial menu to bring up the face menu. Scroll through the items until you locate the Yotei Mask.

  1. It’s interesting how slot games are evolving – almost like entering a vibrant, playful world! I saw uu 88 slot mentioned, and the ‘explorer’ theme sounds fun. Responsible gaming is key, of course, but a little escapism can be nice! 😊
