In a post on X, Director of Publishing at Larian Michael Douse confirmed that the studio is opening an “entirely new department,” imploring those with “good taste in storytelling” to apply for roles. Story has always been a massive part of Larian titles, and the new department is great news for those who want to see it remain a cornerstone for the studio. The jobs for the new department are all based in Larian’s studio in Guildford, England, with roles such as Story Department Lead, Senior Story Editor, and Creative Partnerships Developer all currently open to applicants.
Larian to Open New Storytelling-Focused Department
It’s well known at this point that Larian is currently working on two new titles simultaneously. The studio has its work cut out with both games in the works, so it makes sense that a new department could help keep consistency as development ramps up across both. If the studio can produce titles with great narratives like Baldur’s Gate 3 without this department, then the potential of what it can achieve with this team in place is extremely exciting.
At the moment, Larian is keeping its cards close to its chest about its next titles. It makes sense for the studio to take its time, given the lofty expectations created by the critical and commercial success of Baldur’s Gate 3. This only leads to speculation about what the next two Larian games might be, with some assuming that a potential Divinity: Original Sin 3 is a given after its experience with Baldur’s Gate 3. It will likely be some time before the studio is ready to talk about what it’s working on next.
