Xbox-Owned Indiana Jones Game is Selling Faster on PS5

Summary

  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is selling faster on PS5 than Xbox orSteam, according to an analytics firm.
  • Almost 5 million Xbox users have played the game, with most coming from Game Pass.
  • Microsoft has teased a sequel to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle due to its success on multiple platforms.

New data from an analytics firm indicates that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is selling better on the PlayStation 5 than it did on Xbox Series X/S and Steam. It’s possible that the data may surprise some gamers, considering that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was originally released almost half a year ago, so the title was not entirely new when it debuted on the PS5.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was originally released in December 2024 and then ported to PS5 on April 17, 2025. Developed by MachineGames, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle received glowing reviews last year, and some PS5 owners were eagerly awaiting the game’s release to play it on their platform of choice.

Now, a new study from Alinea Analytics has shown that, according to the company’s estimates, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is selling better on the PS5 than it was on Steam and Xbox. In the report shared by Alinea Analytics, it’s revealed that the game sold over 117,200 units in its first week on the PS5, while the Steam version only sold 91,200 copies in the same timeframe. Alinea market analysis head Rhys Elliott also highlighted that while under 5 million gamers played Indiana Jones on Xbox, the vast majority of these users came from the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, not sales on Microsoft’s console, which indicates that “subscription cannibalization is real.”

Other interesting insights include the game selling more copies during early access on Steam than on PS5, which makes sense, considering that fear of missing out (FOMO) was much bigger in the original launch. Also, the game is expected to have a long tail of sales, as over 1.5 million people have wishlisted Indiana Jones on Steam, for example.

While this is mostly good news for Microsoft, some PS5 fans were unhappy with the release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The physical disc for the game only included 20 GB of data, and the rest had to be downloaded, giving owners of the physical edition essentially no advantage over digital buyers.

Due to the game’s huge success on multiple platforms, Microsoft recently teased an Indiana Jones and the Great Circle sequel. In a recent interview, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer confirmed that the company was very happy with the latest entry in the Indiana Jones franchise, and that he was excited about what could be “coming next.”
