Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Shows Wildling Battles Beyond the Wall

New footage from Game of Thrones: Kingsroad showcases wildling battles beyond the Wall as the game receives its first demo on Steam.

With the one-month anniversary of Game of Thrones: Kingsroad‘s early access launch fast approaching, publisher Netmarble has shared some official footage from its latest title, which Game Rant can now exclusively reveal. The new promo materials consist of two clips, both of which showcase Altar of Memories, the game’s co-op dungeons that pit four-player teams against a wide variety of powerful creatures.

GoT: Kingsroad’s Ironbeak Griffin Can Be Taken Down With Traps

One of the newly shared videos features a fight against an Ironbeak Griffin, which showcases several Game of Thrones: Kingsroad gameplay mechanics, including traps. With careful coordination, players can work together to set and activate traps that temporarily immobilize the Ironbeak Griffin, creating an opening for combos and slow-but-powerful attacks that help push through massive damage. Traps are also an option against every other flying enemy that can be encountered throughout the Altar of Memories dungeons.

GoT: Kingsroad’s Giant Ice Spiders Are Relentless Enemies

Netmarble’s second video shows a fight against a Giant Ice Spider, a boss with a fairly self-explanatory name. These humongous enemies attack relentlessly and are capable of dishing out both single-target and area-of-effect damage—oftentimes in quick succession. One strategy for taking them down is for the player party to perform simultaneous weak point attacks, which will eventually incapacitate them and create an opening for dealing serious damage. Both Griffins and Giant Ice Spiders are based on folktales from the A Song of Ice and Fire lore, including the stories that Old Nan tells Bran in A Game of Thrones.

The Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Steam page states that the action RPG is planned to stay in early access for at least four weeks. While this minimum testing period is nearly over, there’s still no word on when exactly the game will see a full release. Whenever that happens, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is planned to expand its reaches to the Epic Games Store, as well as Android and iOS devices. In the meantime, its early access version can be purchased via Steam for $24.99. The Deluxe and Ultimate Packs are priced at $49.99 and $89.99, respectively.
