Rumors surrounding the paid season pass for EA FC 25 have been cropping up for a while, but this time, the veracity of the sources has fans paying closer attention.

Since its September 2024 launch, EA FC 25‘s season pass has been fully free-to-play, giving players access to rewards and bonus content simply for playing the game. This strategy did well to differentiate EA FC 25 from competing sports games like NBA 2K25, which implements a paid season pass monetization scheme. However, with the upcoming Team of the Season (TOTS) promo just around the corner, it looks like EA could be gearing up to test monetized progression systems in FC 25‘s Ultimate Team mode for the very first time.

While the contents of the season pass are unknown at the time of writing, speculation points to some of EA FC 25‘s best Evolutions being part of the reward track. The price is also a mystery, but unlike NBA 2K25‘s Pro ($9.99) and Hall of Fame ($19.99) passes, the FC 25 version seemingly offers an alternative – purchasing the pass using in-game Coins instead of real money. This option would be a welcome change for EA FC 25 players who grind the game regularly and want access to premium rewards without spending extra cash.

EA FC 25’s Next Season May Introduce a Paid Pass for Ultimate Team

Team of the Season will run for seven weeks in EA FC 25, highlighting top players from major leagues. The first week features squads from Ligue 1, the Arkema Premier League (women’s Ligue 1), and Eredivisie. While there’s no voting for the Ligue 1 squad, fans will be able to vote on teams from the Premier League, and likely from Bundesliga, Serie A, and La Liga in the coming weeks. Ahead of the event, EA has launched a TOTS Warm-Up campaign in FC 25, giving players the chance to earn free packs and build up Coin reserves – possibly even enough to grab the paid season pass.

EA traditionally uses the TOTS period to test new systems in preparation for the next FC game, and the rumored pivot to a paid season pass could indicate an expanded monetization strategy for the Ultimate Team mode. While some FC 25 players are expectedly wary of the same, the option to buy the Ultimate Team season pass with in-game Coins might strike a better balance between free and paying users, although Asy’s “prepare your wallets” remark is a bit concerning.
