Warzone Devs Explain Why TTK is Faster on Verdansk

Summary

  • The Call of Duty: Warzone developers intentionally made TTK faster on Verdansk in Season 3 for a more casual-friendly and exciting gameplay experience.
  • Raven Software plans to evaluate TTK changes based on player feedback throughout the season.
  • The developers promise more updates and new content for Verdansk in the future.

The Call of Duty: Warzone development team revealed why time-to-kill, or TTK, is faster on the Verdansk map compared to other maps in the game during Season 3. Verdansk was re-introduced to Call of Duty: Warzone with the Season 3 update on April 3 to celebrate the game’s fifth anniversary.

The Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3 update brought a rebuilt version of Verdansk with new light adjustments and quality-of-life improvements. Despite the rebuild, the 2025 version of Verdansk is faithful to the original map with many returning elements, including Buy Stations, Points of Interest, Killstreaks, and Easter eggs. Some elements from the game’s later seasons were added as well, including Metro Station entrances and other map changes. Moreover, the Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3 update brought multiple modes, including 150-player Battle Royale and the new Battle Royale Casual mode, which includes up to 120 bots and 28 real players. While playing on Verdansk, players can fulfill Contracts and complete Public Events to earn rewards as well, and players have noticed that they’re getting kills faster than they remember on the original Verdansk.

One Skin Can Give Call of Duty: Warzone Players a Huge Advantage in Verdansk, But There’s a Catch

Call of Duty: Warzone players are noticing that one skin in particular has a big advantage in Verdansk, although unlocking it is quite convoluted.

Raven Software’s Call of Duty: Warzone game director Pete Actipis confirmed that TTK speeds on Verdansk are faster in Season 3 when compared to previous seasons in 2024, according to an interview with IGN. Actipis notes that this TTK design choice was intentional, since the Call of Duty: Warzone developers wanted to go back and make Verdansk more casual friendly and exciting, since players have more opportunities for kills. Since TTK speed is faster and fewer shots are required to land on target, lower-skilled players and newcomers are able to even the odds against higher-skilled players. As a result, positioning and targeting play more prominent roles, as aiming toward an enemy first grants a better chance at scoring a kill.

Call of Duty: Warzone Developers Made TTK Faster on Verdansk to Make the Map More Casual Friendly and Exciting

The developers like the current TTK speed in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3, according to Actipis. Raven Software plans to continue evaluating TTK and gauging feedback from players throughout the season, and the developers are open to adjustments based on feedback. For now, there are no changes planned for TTK on Verdansk, but Actipis notes that Season 3 is the “starting point” for Verdansk, so fans can expect more updates and new content on the map.

What’s more, Actipis confirmed that Verdansk is here to stay in Call of Duty: Warzone. There will be “some great surprises” in store for Verdansk, and Call of Duty: Warzone appears to be striving with a healthy player base following Verdansk’s re-release.
