STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl developer GSC Game World recently unveiled the official roadmap of updates that the popular FPS will get during Q2 2025. These updates will continue to polish the experience of playing STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which launched with some significant bugs in 2024.

STALKER 2 is the fourth entry in the franchise, following the original trilogy released between 2007 and 2009. The title had a long, troubled development, which was greatly affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, where GSC Game World is located. Despite this, the game quickly became a huge hit, selling a million units within its first 48 hours. Apart from being a financial success, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl also saw positive reviews, with critics praising its immersive, seamless open world, but complaining about balancing issues and glitches.

Now, GSC Game World has announced the updates that fans can expect during the second quarter of 2025. One of the most eagerly awaited updates will consist of an improvement to STALKER 2’s A-Life system, making characters more independent when living their lives. After these upcoming updates, humans will be smarter during combat, and mutants will work differently, eating corpses and reacting distinctly to threats. The developers intend to release a Beta Mod SDK Kit, which will make it easier to make mods for STALKER 2: Shadow of Chornobyl. Other relevant updates include the addition of Mutant Loot and two new weapons to the game, increasing the player’s stash window, some graphical improvements, and more optimization and bug fixes.

Apart from improving STALKER 2, GSC Game World also indicated that gamers should not forget the next-gen updates planned for the original STALKER trilogy. Late last year, the developer promised updates for both the PC and console versions of the trilogy, but this is the first time that they have received an official release window.

Most of STALKER 2’s recent updates have been focused on bug fixing and improving the enemies’ AI. The most recent patch, for example, focused on fixing problems with combat, quests, and improving the shooter’s performance and balance.

As GSC Game World continues to improve STALKER 2, the game remains incredibly popular. Back in March, it was revealed that STALKER 2 has reached over six million players. While most of these numbers may come from the title being available on the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, it’s fairly likely that STALKER 2 sold at least two million units, considering its success on Steam.
