Star Wars Outlaws Fans Need to Keep an Eye on April 18

Summary

  • April 18 will reveal new info on Star Wars Outlaws’ next DLC pack at the Star Wars Celebration event in Japan.
  • A Pirate’s Fortune DLC will bring Kay face-to-face with the infamous pirate Hondo Ohnaka.
  • Despite positive reviews, Ubisoft claims Star Wars Outlaws fell short of sales, and no further DLC beyond A Pirate’s Fortune is confirmed.

Fans of Star Wars Outlaws should keep their sensors locked onto April 18, as more information about the game’s upcoming DLC will be revealed on that day. Last summer, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment released the first truly open-world Star Wars video game with Star Wars Outlaws, a crime caper set in the dark underbelly of the Outer Rim at the height of the Empire’s reign. As aspiring outlaw Kay Vess, players could journey to various planets, build shaky alliances with the galaxy’s most notorious criminal organizations, and put together a rag-tag crew to pull off the biggest heist in the history of the Outer Rim.

Kay’s main journey through the Galaxy Far, Far Away was only the beginning for Star Wars Outlaws, as Ubisoft and Massive promised to expand the game through DLC story missions. The first of these post-launch missions, titled Wild Card, was released in November and saw Kay sneak her way into a high-stakes Sabacc game alongside none other than the legendary Lando Calrissian. The next DLC pack will be titled A Pirate’s Fortune and is set to launch this Spring. Not much is yet known about it except that it will bring Kay face-to-face with the infamous Hondo Ohnaka, the roguish Weequay pirate introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

An Unlikely Star Wars Outlaws Sequel Would Have a Strange Cross to Bear

Though it doesn’t seem as if Star Wars Outlaws will be getting a follow-up, if it does, it would have to reckon with one major issue.

That will change at Star Wars Celebration in Japan on Friday, April 18, where more information about the future of Star Wars Outlaws, including new details about A Pirate’s Fortune, will be unveiled. This was confirmed in a post on the official Star Wars Outlaws Twitter page, which also included a promotional image of Kay, her faithful pet/partner-in-crime Nix, and Ohnaka himself.

More Star Wars Outlaws DLC Information Coming at Celebration

So far, there is no word on Star Wars Outlaws getting any further DLC after A Pirate’s Fortune launches later this year. Responses to the base Star Wars Outlaws have been mixed so far, with Ubisoft claiming that the game fell short of its sales expectations despite positive early reviews. Additionally, Star Wars Outlaws is one of many games set to be ported to the Nintendo Switch 2 when it launches in June.

Next weekend’s Star Wars Celebration event has more in store for Star Wars gaming fans than word on the next Star Wars Outlaws DLC. Respawn Entertainment and Bit Reactor’s yet-unnamed Star Wars turn-based strategy game will also be presented during the festivities, with rumors suggesting that it will be titled Star Wars: Zero Company and feature a team of Mandalorians. More surprises will likely be revealed at Star Wars Celebration in Japan next week, so fans should watch what goes on with great interest.
