Splatoon 3 Reveals New Splatfest for 2025

Summary

  • The upcoming seasonal Splatfest, called SpringFest, will run from April 11 to 13.
  • Splatoon 3 players can support Teams Morning, Afternoon, or Night during the SpringFest.
  • Rewards originally from Splatoon 2 can be redeemed in Splatoon 3 via the News app on Switch consoles.

Splatoon 3 announced a special Splatfest called the 2025 SpringFest that will start on April 11, and players will pick sides based on which time of day they prefer to do things. Splatoon 3 players who want to participate in the limited-time SpringFest event can side with Teams Morning, Afternoon, and Night and earn rewards based on their team’s collective performance.

The Splatoon 3 SpringFest event will start nearly a month after the launch of Patch 9.3.0. While Splatoon 3 no longer receives significant updates, Nintendo still supports the game via periodic patches that make some adjustments to weapons that affect how multiplayer matches can go. Splatoon 3‘s 9.3.0 update also made terrain changes to specific Tricolor Turf War maps that have made spots near a team’s spawn point unable to be covered with ink. Despite the discontinuation of major content releases, Splatoon 3‘s periodic patches also address some lingering bugs and performance issues.

Though major Splatfest events were concluded in 2024, Splatoon 3 players will soon have a seasonal Splatfest to participate in. Starting on Friday, April 11, at 8:00 PM Eastern, Splatoon 3‘s special SpringFest event will begin. During the ongoing Sneak Peek window, Splatoon 3 players can head to the Pledge Box and respond to the question, “When do you get things done?” As with previous Splatfests, including February’s Chocolate Splatfest, each of the three members of Deep Cut will represent a side.

For the SpringFest, Shiver will represent Team Morning, Frye will back Team Afternoon, and Big Man will support Team Night. The SpringFest concludes on Sunday, April 13, at 8:00 PM Eastern, and results will be announced in-game shortly after. Nintendo Switch Online members who play Splatoon 3 can also claim some SpringFest user icons during the Splatfest.

While the SpringFest is active, a promotional article in the News app on Switch consoles will reward players with visors and shoes from Splatoon 2‘s Hare vs. Tortoise Splatfest event, such as the Pearlescent Squidkid IV shoes. These can be claimed at the lobby terminal once the game is launched from within the News app. Nintendo also stated that Splatoon 3 players can stay informed about upcoming in-game events, including any returning Splatfests, via the free Nintendo Today mobile app.

Given the sporadic timing of Splatfests, the SpringFest could be the last one in Splatoon 3 before the Switch 2 hits store shelves on June 5. Whether Splatoon 3 will get a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition release remains to be seen.
